There’s something about Occitanie that fascinates me. An ancient land that was home to a bloody crusade. Carcassonne, the fortified city with the Mountaigne Noir to the north and the shadow of the Pyrenees to the south. The pull of the Pyrenees, which hide crumbling castles on mountain tops. The mysteries of Rennes le Chateau and the surrounding areas - I could spend weeks exploring this place.

As with yesterday’s tip, this is an easy recommendation. Queribus is one of the most famous ‘Cathar Castles’ in the foothills of the Pyrenees and along with Puilaurens, Peyrepertuse, Termes, and Aguilar formed the five sons of Carcassonne defensive line.
