I obsess about cats a normal amount (who am I kidding, I’m practically a sleeper agent activated when I hear the overture) and I have normal feelings about Tugger and Mistoffelees

I’m open to literally ANY headcanons, my own headcanons fluctuate depending on the cast/production I’m watching so don’t be shy laying some wild things on me (though obviously no incest, please have the characters NOT be related when you ship them haha)

I’m that girl who wrote that thing (the wicked au) and a few other one-shots and hopefully more in the future, and I used to make some edits on my YouTube channel

Old Deuteronomy is Santa Claus's cat (or probably Santa Claus himself)

Let's think of it that way. He's very old, he's a very big cat, hell he even looks like Santa. He shows up once in a year and he decides which one of the cats has been nice. He is Santa.

He probably even dresses up as Santa for the kittens...

My HC is that Victoria is in her ninth life and will be the leader of the Jellicles after Deuteronomy is gone.

She will be the new elder and everycats will call her Old Victoria or Old White Queen

Here me out. Ok, I know how many people think 2019 Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer sounds and looks like they're inviting Victoria to a very questionable threesome but no. Here's my theory:

So they're twins and they've had this thing going ever since they could develop feelings. They see a new cute/hot cat. They both like said cat. They tell each other they like said cat. A huge grin appears on both their faces because they know. The competition just started:

Whoever seduces the cat first wins. And that's exactly what they did with Victoria. They saw her for the first time, both were like "whoa", they waited for the right moment to begin and BOOM. Seducing competition song.

And if one of them really really likes a cat, like over the heels romantic feels then there won't be a competition because they both respect that their brother/sister is in love.

But if they both have minor feelings or raw sexual energy for one and the same cat? Competition time.

Mungojerrie is Growltiger’s son (maybe his ans Griddlebone’s) and he was drawn into crime from the very beginning. He left his father at some point and continued his business on land. Maybe he had an offer from Macavity. One day while robbing someone’s house he ran across Rumpleteazer who was doing the same. They realized pretty quickly that they looked somewhat similar and started working as a couple.

Some time later they found the Jellicle tribe and became a part of it. Jerrie had stopped working for Macavity and continued stealing for fun with Rumpleteazer.

Bonus: we can talk about Griddlebone escaping the ship with baby Jerrie in her arms or being pregnant with him. I’m sure that after Growltiger’s death she went to Macavity. Maybe she told him that Jerry was Macavity’s son. Maybe Macavity had sent Griddlebone to Growltiger to destroy him but she had fallen in love with him

Deaf Victoria thoughts again

I’m thinking four different ways

A) Victoria is deaf and she is born to the Jellicle tribe. Someone knows SL and teaches her and everyone else to communicate with her. If it’s CATS 2019 tap was Skimble’s idea to let Victoria make music herself. They learned tap dancing together. Railways are made of metal and vibrations spread well

B) Victoria is deaf and she is born to the Jellicle tribe. No one knows SL, but it emerges naturally with interaction. Victoria would have her own form of sign language if she weren’t taught a pre-existing one (deaf kids do that). Soon all the tribe is fluent in it.

C) Victoria is deaf and she speaks SL, she comes to the Jellicles when she is an adult (cats2019). Someone knows SL too, and there’s no problem with communication as the other cat works as an interpreter

D) Victoria is deaf and she speaks SL, she comes to the Jellicles when she is an adult (cats2019). No one speaks SL, and everyone is reeeeally puzzled at the beginning. She can’t listen to Jellicle songs and they have zero connection to her. But they are ready to be patient with it, and soon enough they can talk to her in her language. The first one to start learning would be Mistoffelees.

Bonus: Victoria most likely wouldn’t be able to sing with her voice but she can sing in sign, like so:

Keep in mind that this is American Sign Language and Victoria would speak British Sign Language

What if there was a deaf Jellicle?

1-4% of all white cats are deaf.

What would Victoria be like if she were deaf? I let myself speculate because I’m a sign language interpreter (I haven’t graduated yet but still).

1. Living in London, she would most likely speak British Sign Language, BSL (but would she have hands for that?)

2. If she were a domestic cat she wouldn’t ever be let outside

3. If she were a stray she would be in constant danger. Thinking intelligent cats, she would be anxious about staying alone because streets are dangerous for a cat who can’t hear (dogs, cars, Macavity). If she lived outside of any tribe she would be overcautious and extremely careful.

4. There’s a big chance she would know and be friends with some other deaf cats (how many deaf cats can there be in London?)

5. Even if there were a chance for her to have a cochlear implant (implants for cats do exist) it wouldn’t have worked because she is white and was most likely born deaf (CI for cats only work for late hearing loss)

6. She would be able to dance or play drums (if she had hands for drumsticks) just like any other cat (if they could hold drumsticks)

7. If she had been completely isolated from other cats since her kittenhood she wouldn’t be able to speak any language (I’m losing my line now. Who is she? A cat? A person? What am I talking about? If cats speak a language is it English or is it Meowing? Do they understand people? Why can’t people understand cats if they speak the same language? Are Jellicle cats called Jellicle because they are unusual talking cats? When we are watching the play, are we in a fantasy world or in the real world? If it’s not English, if it’s a cats language, Meowing or Jellicle, do they have Meowing/Jellicle Sign Language for the Deaf Jellicles? Do all cats all over the world speak the same spoken language? Are Jellicle cats aware that there are other cats in other countries? Do cats travel to gain the knowledge? Well, Skimble does. There should be special organizations and schools for the Deaf kittens, do Jellicles have schools at all? There was a sign: “Makavity: wanted for everything”. Cats must know how to write, but you need human hands for writing. If a cat has human hands is it possible for a human to communicate with them with signing like they do with apes? Am I overthinking it?)

8. A bonus hc: working on trains Skimble has taken up some sign language (but is it BSL or MSL/JSL? Scotland speaks BSL but there’s nothing in this world I am certain of anymore)

So when he meets Victoria for the first time he is the only one from the whole tribe who is able to actually talk to her (well, if she doesn’t try to write. Can she write? If she could write, what language would she be writing? Does Meowing/Jellicle have its own writing? They write English apparently, but how can you capture meowing sounds with Latin letters?) and they bond closely right away.
