hopefully y'all know i ship that shit, don't even get me started on how/why it's canon ok just accept it and move on. But ok real talk let me tell you why this ship is fucking important to me ok? sit the fudge down i'm gonna tell you a few things.

1. He thinks she a fine piece'a booty              I mean that in the nicest of ways. I mean ok              Axel is a sex starved inmate but Carol's husband              has also been dead for a good few months now,              not like sex with him was a good thing anyway.              But for the first time in what is probably fucking               years, a guy comes along who genuinely things              her sexually attractive. And then they're mysteriously              not around and in the watch tower together? (it's              canon the dialogue does not lie) Carol be appreciatin'

2. He's actually not a bad guy                When Rick kind of loses his shit a bit, we see him               go off the rails somewhat in the middle of the cell               block in front of everyone, and when the camera                pans out as people start moving away quickly, we               can clearly see Axel move Carol out of the way and                put himself between her and Rick. See? He's not               just a lousy asshat, he cares if anything happens               to her. And he doesn't just have his way with her and               fuck off, he sticks around (ok he hasn't got much               choice in that). He's seen in a handful of scenes               with Carol, and they get along swell. And lets               remember the guy is a pretty crap criminal. And               above all, he makes her smile.

3. He's clueless                Again in the nicest of possible ways. I don't mean               he's thick, i mean he doesn't know who she is. I               mean he doesn't know what's come before. He               doesn't know what Carol was like when Ed was               around, doesn't know she was married at all i'd                wager. He doesn't know anything about her or her               old life that caused her so much pain. He is the                freshest start she could hope to get. There's no               prior knowledge there whatsoever, which is why               i think she had so much confidence and happiness               around him. He was funny and a bit dim, but he               wasn't secretly wondering how she was coping               without Sophia, wasn't asking questions, didn't                treat her as though she had ever been any different.

AND THEN THEY WENT AND GOT HIM SHOT IN THE HEAD

COME ON PEOPLE

Axel made Carol laugh and smile. Like a huge smile! I'm still sad about it.

Pay No Worship to the Garish Sun

Things were finally back to normal, Armand had returned and was sleeping soundly by Cal's side, she had been perfectly well behaved and she'd even gotten around to eating regularly again. Growing stronger every day, as fledglings do, she'd also become more polite and proper, for her Maker's sake. For this reason, it'd been several months since she'd been to The Gutter, which had put a stopper on her affair with a particular vampire in question. She'd finally visited, hoping she'd see him there as they'd promised long ago. Cal knew he'd probably forgotten about her, after believing she'd forgotten about him, disappearing like she had. He'd probably gone off somewhere new like Italy or Spain or France or.... New York or something.

Still, as she sat at the bar sipping her drink, the same one she had the first night she'd met him, the fledgling felt hands on her waist. She smiled and turned slowly, first with her neck, then her shoulders, and finally her hips and legs as she discovered who it was. As soon as she faced him she lifted herself on her toes, hugging him around the shoulders and holding him close, realizing how eager she'd been to see him. pulling back with a smile she gazed at him dreamily. "Thank god the sun didn't blind me so I could see your face again."

You know what? Roughly a year later I still 1000% ship Carol with Axel.

Fire's Out Anyway

Red hair. Glasses. Strawberry blonde scruff on his chin. Smaller build but you never know how much can change in a few years. How many years exactly? How old should he be by now? 

When Cal allowed herself to think about Aiden, she figured he'd have gotten away from it all, settling down with a nice guy, maybe... a guy she'd never have the chance to meet. She never expected him to be at The Gutter but yet... maybe.

She only looked away from the man when he turned, probably feeling her sight on him, and stared down at her drink, donated blood with alcohol, a taste she was still growing accustomed to.
