SEPTEMBER 6!!!
Good news literarians (that wasn't a word till now) it's Read a Book Day! So wrap yourself up in a comforter and grab a cup of hot cocoa to sit with by the fire as you escape to another world through the words on the page. You will probably be very warm since it's still summer, but it's still nice. It is also Iguana Awareness Day. Be aware, for iguanas. In 1901 President William McKinley was shot twice by Leon Czolgosz. He took the whole thing calmly and died in hospital on the 14th. Teddy Roosevelt was sworn in as new president immediately. One of the co-discoverers of insulin, John Macleod was born in 1876 in Cluny, Scotland. He wanted more whisky in the mix, but was denied. (I made that last part up). Canada's first permanent TV station CBFT-TV opened in Montreal in 1952. The first thing it aired was the 1952 movie Aladdin and His Lamp. Idris Elba was born in 1972. He's currently cancellin' the apocalypse! New Miss Moneypenny and sea-goddess Naomi Harris was born in 1976. The flower of the day is tongues. They are used primarily for tasting and in speech. They can also be used for other things, like pie making. Today's philosophical musing is that life is a lot like a highway. I, for one, intend to ride it, all night long if it comes to that. If you too happen to be going my way, I am willing to metaphorically drive it all night long.
