👎👎👎👎👎 OK, I’m prolly going to get so much hate from this post but I’ve always been honest in my food reviews. @pujolrestaurant in Mexico City is currently ranked 9th best restaurant in the world according to theworlds50best.com and has become a destination restaurant for many foodies. Anyway, Pujol was such a disappointment especially considering it’s global status. The food was decent, but nothing felt special, overtly innovative, or even warm and comforting. The place was a total factory - they seat you and immediately begin the tasting menu without a proper explanation of the meal proceedings or options for beverage pairings. The courses were strictly timed and our plates were removed regardless of whether we’d eaten any of it, and we were never asked if we even liked any of the dishes. In fact, I only had a few bites of many of the dishes and they still kept removing the plates no questions asked. Service overall was cold and robotic, and our server kept mistakenly telling us and all the tables around us that the amberjack ceviche was scallops. When one of the servers brought my birthday dessert, he didn’t know who it belonged to so he just awkwardly shoved the plate between us and immediately left without a word or acknowledgement. The table next to us (also from San Francisco btw) was prompted to receive their dessert on the patio because they weren’t finishing their food and drinks fast enough and their table needed to be turned for the next seating. We ended up paying over $250 a person for this impersonal, mediocre dinner. At this price, you could get several fabulous dinners at many of the other great restaurants in Mexico City! So maybe skip Pujol, saved yourself the time and money, and enjoy delicious Mexican food elsewhere in CDMX. 🇲🇽 • • • #pujol #foodfail #mexicanfood #cdmxfood #cdmxfoodie #cdmxeats #eatercdmx #dinner #restaurant #food #foodie #foodporn #foodstagram #foodphotography #vittlemonster #feedme #instafood #eater (at Polanco) https://www.instagram.com/p/CaFYay5Fadg/?utm_medium=tumblr
