Did you know Silverwood is a man-made reservoir? Did you know there's a town on the bottom? Silverwood was made in 1971 as part of the State Water Project. The Sawpit Canyon area was home to the small town of Cedar Springs. If you ever wondered where the Cedar Springs dam got it's name, it's from the town now below the waters. Now, of course, it's a recreational area. You can still hike the many trails of Sawpit Canyon, and the Pacific Coast Trail and observe the wildlife that call this new landscape home.
