Chilean realist painter

She was the first professional female artist in Chile

Her career took off when she showed her work to Manuel Antonio Caro, who recommended she study art in Santiago

She attended the Academia de Pintura and became a student of Pedro Lira

She was the first woman to receive a government study grant for painting

She paved the way for many female artists who followed her, such as Rebeca Matte and the Mira Sisters
