[ to: wonshik ]: I’m out of work. [ to: wonshik ]: I’ll meet you over there!
Jia placed her phone in her black messenger bag and gathered her things on her desk. There was a new person in her life, Wonshik. She had met him a few years back at a food stand. She ordered 1 serving while he ordered 2 and the orders got mixed up and she received his order. It was awkward in reality, but it brought her a friendship that lasted for a long time, even after a few years of not seeing him.
Jia locked the doors as always and walked through the neighborhood to get to the food stand once again. The food stand had become their little inside joke and the place where many things happen. Last time she was there, a drunk man was dancing alone near it and gave some money to Jia because she wasn’t from Seoul. It was odd, but she got a few extra bucks.
Walking by a trash bin, a few sniffles came from it. Jia stopped walking and listened closely to the noise from the bin. There was a short silence and then the sniffles continued. Jia bit her lip out of nervousness, but still made her way towards the bin. She stood in front of it for a moment and took a deep breath before opening the bin. Jia dropped the top on the floor and her eyes widened at the sight of a little girl with a dried bloodied nose crying.
“Don’t hurt me...” The little girl held her knees closely to her torso and put her head in between.
“No, sweetie. I’m not going to hurt you.” Jia softly spoke as she extended her hand outward with a small smile. The little girl flinched when Jia reached out, but her head slowly rose when Jia was not moving. “Do you promise?” Jia nodded at the little girl’s question, her smile never fading. The little girl took Jia’s hand and Jia picked the little girl up carefully in case of any injuries.
“Are you hurting anywhere?” Jia’s hands were hovering around the girl’s body, not wanting to any more harm. The little girl pointed at her legs. The jeans were tattered from her knees and stains of dirt on all of her clothing. “Okay, I’m going to call a nice oppa to come and get us, okay? We’re going to help you, okay baby?” The little girl looked at Jia for a moment, as if trying to get a read on her before nodding in agreement.
[ to: wonshik ]: Change of plans. Meet me at *****. Hurry, please!
