Draco keeps having the same disastrous date, over and over again.

I’ve started a new time travel Drarry fic :D

Draco and Harry both have dates at London's newest cereal cafe with a man called Liam. Unfortunately there is no sign of Liam, the waitress insists that they share a table, and every time Draco attempts to storm off in a huff the disastrous not-a-date starts again.

Will our intrepid heroes ever escape the Cereal Cafe? Will Pansy ever stop sending Draco aubergine emojis? Will Harry ever run out of excuses to hold Draco's hand? It really is all to play for.

While plenty of stuff in Shoreditch is ridiculous that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun or that it should all be dismissed in one fell swoop. With its overpriced bowls of sugary cereal, and unabashedly childish design, London’s Cereal Killer Cafe has become a key site of anxiety about contemporary infantilization. Two months ago, the cafe was targeted by anti-gentrification activists who hurled paint bombs and cereal at its windows. The cafe called it a “hate crime.” Against adult babies?

Tom Whyman has an interesting analysis of the incident, finding that both the cafe and the group that attacked it suffer from an infantilized mindset. Whyman concludes by making a modest claim for the potential of something like the cereal cafe to resist the dominant neoliberal ideology:

My point is just really that the cereal cafe is a bit like something that might exist within this order but one day break out of it, because it is set in opposition to at least some aspects of the dominant ideology (healthiness, being ‘sensible’, only acting on ‘sensible’ ideas). So it might be a potentially useful template, even if it is itself (nevertheless) a lost cause.
