No. Not candlelight. A ball the size of her fist hovered over her stomach. Just like the spell the Mediwitches cast months ago, burning so white it looked blue.

It cast shadows across the pitch-black room, sparking warmth in Lucius's grey eyes.

Narcissa's fingers threaded through her hair gently as every pair of eyes stared at the ball of energy, symbolizing what hadn't yet been taken from her. She watched the light fluctuate like fairy wings held it afloat.

A glass jar pushed into view, scooping under slowly, capturing the orb, and closing a lid over top. She looked up to see Draco screwing the lid on, watching the light breathe. His eyes danced with its glow, and she watched his lips part in wonder.

Victorious.

She tried to remember if she'd ever seen him catch the Snitch."

Modern Hinny 2.0

Okay so I decided to remake this one as many people told me I got Ginny's eye color wrong the first time (eventhough I had Bonnie Wright in mind while doing it), I thought you guys were right and deserved a more loyal portrayal of book Ginny, so here we are, with pretty brown eyed Ginny instead of blue/greenish one! (This version is still on my IG for those interested lol)

"You fought well."

It was small compensation, but it was better than nothing at all. Eventhough he didn't need to hear it from her mouth to feel vindicated, it still felt nice to hear the words aloud.

He kept staring at the sun setting on the pine trees far ahead of them, so she continued :

"You know, you don't have to start a fight everytime someone calls me a mudblood."

Silence still. She pursued :

"Used to be it was one of your favourite qualifier for me if I remember correctly."

There. There she went again. The golden witch. The little miss know it all. He should have known it'd been quiet for too long for her not to resurface and rub it all over his face.

He sighed then stated, matter of fact :

"Only I get to call you like this."

She gave him a sidelong look. A reluctant admission. A bittersweet feeling. The perfect description of what they had, what it was that they shared. She hated it but cherished it all the same.

"Last time I saw you with a sling was in third year, she cooed, even back then it suited you just fine."

With that she tilted her head on his good shoulder, feeling him leaning into her, resuming their silent contemplation.

Sometimes silence was the better option.
