“Given the pressure-free chance, what would Keith want to do?

When he lets himself think about it, he realizes that the list is long. He wants to prod at the exposed skin of Lance’s ankles, press at the freckles on his shins. He wants to run his hands under the thin t-shirt Lance is wearing and count the notches in his spine. He wants to slot their fingers together. He wants to nose at the contour of Lance’s jaw. He wants to kiss him, even though he’s sick and Lance is sick, and they’re both all snotty and sweat-damp and half-way miserable.

The wall of possibilities overwhelms him, but he figures one small thing shouldn’t disrupt the fragile balance of how well this is going.”
