Notes on working with Cernunnos
Right so I was called by Cernunnos only recently but I’m sure a lot of you know how he is. My most recent experience was especially intense and I thought I’d record some of what I came away with. So here goes:
-A VERY PUSHY dude. I’m used to working with dominant goddesses in their fearsome aspects, but I’ve never worked with anyone so rawly masculine.
-So my brother’s girlfriend gave me a pair of talons and a hawk tail to preserve. I made a really cool necklace out of one, but within 20 minutes of putting it on it was gone. I have torn my (albeit messy) room APART and I cannot find it. Got a strong feeling that I should have asked the Forest God’s blessing first, and permission of the animal’s spirit. I made the other one into a similar necklace today but the first time I was wearing it HAD to be while gathering various winter plants which I then dressed his antlers with, then I had to take it off.
-LOVES the indigo girls? Absolutely digs them.
-He is SO GENDER AFFIRMING. I was worried bc i’m a trans man. I kind of thought he’d want me to take a female role but it DID NOT HAPPEN. He supports my gender identity and wants me to feel extremely goddamn sexy about it!
-Nuts! Also dried berries and fruit, but especially tree nuts.
-HE IS VERY FUCKING GENEROUS AND ALSO VERY FUCKING PSYCHEDELIC
-He wants a down payment on commitment
-Warm up some red wine with fresh rosemary as an offering
-He will accept gin bc juniper
-Although he’s only referred to by name in that one cauldron image, most depictions of horned gods are attributed to him Maybe different parts of the world had different variations bc i keep seeing that he’s associated with wealth, fire, and grain but i’m getting a very strong message that the dude my ancestors worshiped was not like that
-First: fertility and wealth are different. Wealth exists in “society” with currency and a standard monetary system. The forest doesn’t have any of that. Similarly…
-Grain is a product of agriculture, which happens on farms, which were originally forests. Destroying forests and manipulating the land for grain does NOT vibe. My guy is a foraging meat and veggie guy.
-I get a similar feeling about fire. Naturally occurring fires happen when necessary and that’s fine but like 99.9% of fire is not naturally occurring. No Thank You. Cernunnos agrees with Smoky the Bear that only you can prevent forest fires.
Please note: I am not claiming to have knowledge that supercedes traditional texts or common knowledge, just speaking to my own experience
I have,,, so many children
