there was one other he could turn to and put his full trust in asides from his sisters. whether that had been before his fathers death or after - it made little difference, he and rhyden had been as thick as thieves since they were children. there was little that would break the two apart or so he hoped. his sisters were grieving in their own way while he continued to hold resentment for his father, that of which he'd not expected to feel when the announcement of his death had been made. in truth, rolan hadn't given it much thought - he'd expected his father to live for some time and perhaps shock added to the lack of tears.
it was the first time he'd seen his friend since the news had spread through the lands, and while he attempts to avoid the attention of those wishing to catch it, rolan makes every attempt to seek out his friend as soon as he can. his sisters are safe and for now they were all stuck here - who else could he possibly turn to?
" rhyden? " formalities forgotten when he spotted his friend across the hall, rolan made his way towards him. his friends attention and the advice he'd likely only seek from someone close enough to be a brother would be a welcome distraction. " if you're free i may have a cup of ale with your name on it, " the elephant in the room could wait. " and i could do with one or two myself. "
