a/n: Thank you sm anon!! I was a little lazy with this one but I still hope you enjoy.
It was a pretty day outside; it was warm enough to play outside. James was in the house; however, he had one of the windows opened so he could keep an eye on you, making sure you didn't wander out of the garden.
You were running through the garden, trying to catch ladybugs and butterflies. However, one of your shoelaces started to come undone, causing you to trip. One of your knees scraped against the rough gravel of the garden.
Tears quickly welled into your eyes as you felt the stinging sensation on your knee. Your heart started to beat faster when you saw a little bit of blood trickle down your knee. Whimpering, as you got up and quickly ran back into the house to find James.
When James heard the backdoor open and frantic footsteps, his head snapped in your direction. A look of concern quickly crossed over his face when he saw you crying. "Darling, what's wrong?" He asked softly as he stood up from the couch.
"I—I got hurt, Daddy..." You uttered through your tears and hiccups. That's when James noticed the scrape on your knee. "Oh baby..." he cooed as he picked you up into his strong arms. "Let's get you cleaned up, yeah?"
He carried you into the bathroom, gently setting you onto the counter. He grabbed the first aid kit. He opened an antiseptic wipe, carefully wiping it over your scrape. Hushing you when you started to cry more at the pressure on the scrape. When he was done cleaning it, he put a princess Band-Aid over it.
His hands gently cupped your face, wiping the leftover tears off your cheeks. "You want Daddy to make you a bottle?" He offered gently, a small, empathetic smile forming on his face. You nodded. He picked you back up from the counter, carrying you back into the living room, setting you down onto the couch. "There you go; I'll be back in a sec." He leaned down to press a soft kiss to your head before going into the kitchen to heat up a bottle.
After three or five minutes, James came back into the living room, bottle of milk in hand. "Alright, c'mere, little one." He muttered as he sat down and lifted you up onto his lap.
He held the bottle as you took sips from it, his hand rubbing your back in a soothing pattern as you snuggled into the curve of his chest. "It's all alright now. I've got you, darling." He whispered reassuringly.
