DERACINE
It’s only a matter of time before Mother Nature sends an army of tree soldiers to destroy us. Honestly, can’t blame her considering how shitty we treat the planet. Using top level animation, strong character design, and beautiful imagery, this impressive short delivers that message in an enjoyable watch.
PRAYER 9
This is the type of film you watch and say to yourself “man, this filmmaker is talented.” Creating emotion and adrenaline without the use of one word is what you get in this stunning looking short. Filmmaker Pierre MICHEL-ESTIVAL has a background in visual effects as the shots/CGI are industry/pro-level. A compelling piece of cinematic art that works on various levels.
“Raifort Samurai” is an animated short created at MoPA (Arles) by Pauline Lisi, Alessandro Lamio, Anna Bourgoin, David and Simon Renoux, with a special thanks to Aldo Trousselle.
“Time’s Down” by ARTFX
Nominated for a 2021 VES Student Award, Time’s Down by Jonathan Bacheter, François Brugalières, Nils Lemonnier, Valentin Soulard & Yan Weitlauff, five recent graduates from French digital arts school ArtFX mixes blazing action, snarky dialogue, and seamless execution into a fabulous cyberpunk romp.
The aim is to create an image of the concept of the ring, for further production. Model building from sketch and rendering.
Garden Party by ILLOGIC
arden Party is an Oscar-nominated short film animation that depicts a dark mystery slowly unraveling via the perspective of exotic frogs having a grand time in an opulent, but empty mansion.
The most gorgeously realized independent 3D animation in years, this project from 6 students at France's acclaimed Ecole MoPa revels in the delightful play of the frogs, only to cleverly reveal the subtext of their frolic.
Directed by: ILLOGIC: Florian Babikian, Vincent Bayoux, Victor Caire, Théophile Dufresne, Gabriel Grapperon, Lucas Navarro Soundtrack: Romain Montiel (Maaav)
