Wolfie’s mother was holding down the fort back at Holy Smokes that afternoon - she insisted he take a day off to recharge - and he had nothing to do but some coursework and a few home-improvement projects, so he decided to call up a friend and make a day out of avoiding his responsibilities. The one thing he hated about being so busy all the time was the fact that he had to give up some of the time he’d normally put toward being there for his friends and caring for his dog, Alastor. It was a bad feeling, having to turn down invitations his friends so graciously offered him for a night of studying, and he was going to try and make up for some of it.
Having a doggy playdate with Ezra and his furry friend seemed like a fantastic place to start - it combined a friend, his dog, and avoiding the temptation to do anything that required a lot of brainpower. His mother would be pleased. Plus, if he’d been willing to admit it to himself, it was probably a good thing for him too. He hadn’t gone a day without working at Holy Smokes since the place opened five years ago and he felt the exhaustion deep in his bones.
Knocking at Ezra’s door after taking a leisurely stroll through town to get there, Wolfie and Alastor waited patiently for a response, the dog’s tail going a hundred miles a minute. Alastor knew where they were, he’d been enough times, and his little doggy brain was going into hyperdrive over all the excitement. Wolfie was worried he’d wag his tail right off before the door was even opened.
