Kelly came to me after the pencils were finished on tomorrow’s story, #003 ROYALTY, and said that she’d want to try a new coloring style. Always up for experimenting, we went ahead and we’ve got this awesome watercolor-esque design I’m probably completely failing at adequately explaining.
Anyway, I think it looks awesome, and we’ll probably keep this as the permanent look for most of the comics.
Also, hey, this preview’s extra-tall, so you can get a good close up on it.
I think this was the earliest picture of The Girlfriend and The Shadow Bay Bee side-by-side, alongside some really early logo work that Kelly knocked out. You’ll notice in this design, Bee doesn’t have her logo on her shorts, and her mask is a bit more Bandette-inspired, which I definitely used as a reference to what I was going for in concept (the retro-esque domino mask).

Taking a break from The Shadow Bay Bee this week, check out the first adventure of another heroine, Presider! Madison McKinley has been granted the mysterious powers of all the Presidents of the United States, but that’s just the first step in this teenager’s path to the White House herself!

I’m not a big fan of dogs, but we figured the story needed one. Here’s the second of the designs I was presented with and we decided to go with.
With The Boyfriend, we figured that facial hair comes and goes, so we have a few different options here.
I also used the term "mustachey" in the descriptions, so... there's that.
