Dear Gus,

I’ve been so busy that I had planned on not playing on a tennis team this season, but Jay Howell recruited me hard while we were in Mobile this March. When he came up to our dinner table, I said no. He said he just needed me for two games. Your mom said, “You should do it.” Those two games didn’t include the state championship, which we won this weekend, and now we’re headed back to Mobile to sectionals.

Dear Gus,

The last couple of times I tried to play tennis, my shoulder didn’t cooperate and I played a game that was barely recognizable as my own. I’ve been resting it for a couple of months, but got back out there tonight. Daddy’s BACK! Uncle Chris and I beat Chad Brown and Matt Wooldridge 6-4, 6-2, 3-6. Then I made them take a selfie with a straight face.
