- CHANA ORLOFF 1888-1968 Chana Orloff, born in 1888 in Ukraine, died in Tel Aviv in 1968, is a Jewish figurative sculptor of French nationality. Chana Orloff arrived in Paris in 1910 and am studying sculpture at the Russian Academy in Montparnasse. She became friends with other young Jewish artists, including Marc Chagall, Chaim Jacob Lipchitz, Amedeo Modigliani, Jules Pascin, Chaïm Soutine, Léon Indenbaum and Ossip Zadkine … In 1913, she exhibited at the Salon d'automne. Chana Orloff excelled as a portrait painter for the French elite. Experimenting with many different materials throughout her career, she is best known for her bronze sculptures.
