What Is The Difference Between Self-hypnosis, Meditation and Mindfulness? A Quick Guide to Know!
A lot of people get confused when they try to work out the differences between certain techniques, such as meditation, mindfulness and self-hypnosis.
Meditation is often touted as a way to quiet the mind, to get centred and to get in touch with one’s inner being. While hypnosis (and self-hypnosis) on the other side involves 3 major stages (induction, change, exit). Meditation is the first stage of self-hypnosis, that is the induction stage.
On the other hand, self-hypnosis is different and has a definite goal or end-point. It begins in the same way as meditation but gradually moves into the change phase.
Hypnosis only occurs if you allow it to. It can happen when you’re watching TV or reading a book or doing some repetitive activity like driving a car or washing the dishes. For a few seconds, your conscious mind switches off and instead of analyzing all the information you’re being bombarded with, you just take a break and drift off to some peaceful place, leaving the outside world behind.
That’s hypnosis! And when you do that, it becomes possible to make positive and long-lasting changes in your life.
Mindfulness is described as the process of paying attention to a particular purpose. It means being able to pay attention to and clearly see what’s happening in your life.
If you go through your day with negative emotions and you’re not really sure why! Mindfulness exercises can be considered as a starting point to set you down. From here, self-hypnosis can be further used to identify, heal and dissolve the issue.
