Hi, I am JustaSloth! You can call me Sloth: or whatever (I’m not picky)
I’m involved in the mcyt g/t community! (I’ve actually been here for maybe a little over a year but I wasn’t really active)
I like writing prompts but for the life of me I can’t write an actual character arc.
Some things from my actual life are that I absolutely ADORE music (even tho I can’t sing), I can play two instruments and I have a third I’m working on on the side ( not that much however).

Changing Sizes
-------
Ranboo lived a very dangerous life.
In his defense, never in his wildest dreams did he imagine himself ending up here.
He just had a case of bad timing (as well as incredibly bad luck) on his side.
Ranboo had been in the middle of the town making a supply run when all hell just so happened to break loose.
The first sign that something was wrong was when all the tv’s in the store switched to Channel 9 News and started blaring the Essempi national anthem.
The entirety of the shop had fallen silent as they crowded around the tvs to hear what the reporter had to say,
“Just outside of the city limits a giant has been caught and detained….” The reporter continued on as Ranboo looked away and tried desperately to curb his panic.
He looked back to see the usual blonde reporter, Clementine, continuing on about how for the time being all of the city gates would be closing and nobody would be allowed in or out.
That was extremely bad news for the shapeshifter.
That’s what Ranboo was, a shapeshifter.
He could grow as tall as a full-blooded giant or become as small as a human’s hand.
Normally however, and when he went on supply runs, the teen liked to stay at his normal size of 6’6 which still slightly towered over most people.
His shifting was very emotion based and he could barely control it.
Ranboo knew that he needed a place to stay and his lucky break came in the form of His new two neighbors, Tommy and Tubbo.
The two of them had posted up a “Roommate Wanted: Will Split Rent” poster up on the apartment complex’s bulletin board and Ranboo had been the only taker.
The apartment itself was small with thin walls that were colored a light yellow and an older (but still fairly sturdy) couch.
It was a tight squeeze with three people now living there but they made it work.
The first few days after Ranboo moved in he avoided them despite how it probably made him seem rude or stuck up.
It was hard to stay silent for long when they both tried to include him in their conversations. Why he didn’t know.
Ranboo tried to keep up his stone cold appearance but it only took him a couple of days to crack and talk to them.
Once he did he found out that, surprisingly, he enjoyed their company. It didn’t take long for him to become friends with the duo.
After that Tubbo and Tommy became almost like brothers to him.
Ranboo wondered if they felt the same way.
However even if Tommy and Tubbo did feel the same way, the size shifter still kept his secret well hidden.
Until one day he didn’t.
It had just been a normal Saturday where all of the trio hadn’t had to pick up any shifts or cover for anyone else so they were all off work.
Tommy and Tubbo had gone out to the store and had insisted that Ranboo stay home for some reason.
While he couldn’t help but think that that was a little odd, he was grateful for the peace and quiet that followed their leaving.
He tidied up around the small apartment until he deemed it clean enough then flopped down onto the couch to turn on the news.
While watching the news wasn’t the most exciting thing, but Ranboo had always had a belief that it was important to know what was going on in the city.
After around 15 minutes he was about to change the channel, having thought he’d see enough, when suddenly there was an emergency city-wide broadcast.
As the topic suddenly changed gears images of a sizeshifter that Ranboo once knew flashed across the screen.
His eyes blew wide in panic as he saw the now giant, someone who would’ve never hurt a fly, being detained and imprisoned like some sort of beast.
It made him feel sick and a tell-tale tugging start up in his stomach.
Ranboo felt a dizzying sensation as his emotions spiked and the area between the floor and the couch seemingly shrunk.
With his ever looming panic it took him a few seconds to realize that the room wasn’t shrinking, he was growing.
All he could do was bend almost in half as he felt another wave of nausea overcome him. Ranboo’s shoulders brushed the ceiling as he backed himself up into the corner where he was less likely to do more damage.
As the shifter was moving his arm accidentally collided with the table and sent it across the room where it hit the wall with a crack.
Now panicking he wrenched himself further against the wall and tears filled his eyes as his back dug painfully into the wall.
‘What would his friends think? Surely they would come and see him taking up the whole apartment and think he was a giant or ,even worse, a monster.’
The more logical part of Ranboo’s mind told him that maybe, just maybe his friends wouldn’t shun him. Maybe after all of these months things would be different.
He quickly ignored those though because even if they could be true he couldn’t risk it.
He couldn’t risk being turned in to the government because his friends might decide not to turn him in.
Ranboo needed to leave as soon as possible.
All of the exits were obviously out of the question.
That only left one option.
Ranboo slowed his breathing and tried with all his might to shift back down to his normal size but to no avail.
Just as he thought that things couldn’t get worse, his roommates arrived.
With his now advanced hearing Ranboo could hear their footsteps echoing down the hall, his secret about to be inevitably spilled as they got closer and closer to the door.
All he could do was try and push himself further into the wall, hoping that it would make him magically seem smaller.
‘Like that’ll work-’ The sinister part of his brain whispered to him.
Ranboo quickly shoved those thoughts aside, trying to ignore the choruses of ‘Monster’ and ‘Giant’ that now ran through his head.
With no better options he hung his head in defeat, prayed to any god that would listen, and waited for Tommy and Tubbo to walk in through the door.
I’m VERY excited to present this part to you guys. I wanted to do something different from what I normally read whenever a giant or sizeshifter gets revealed so all feedback would be appreciated!
Keep in Mind: So while Ranboo’s size isn’t necessarily defined in this it’s told by Tubbo so there’s bound to be some mistakes about how big he really is in this situation.

Changing Sizes: Part 2
Today was supposed to have been a normal day, right?
Tubbo was certainly proven wrong when he opened the door to find his roommate (who normally was only slightly taller than average) to now be a literal giant, taking up almost the entirety of their shared living space.
Yeah, so today wasn’t exactly as normal as Tubbo had thought it’d be.
All three of them stood there in shocked silence and Tubbo’s breath caught in his throat as he saw just how truly big Ranboo now was.
Just the thought alone that Ranboo could get bigger than their apartment was enough to make
Tubbo panic.
He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t scared, one look at Tommy could tell him the other boy felt the same.
As they stood in silence all of the stories about ‘giants’ and ‘shapeshifters’ swam forward to Tubbo’s mind. Every one of the horrid tales and strict warnings from his childhood resurfaced and a single statement stood above the rest, don’t befriend them.
They’ve been known to ruin towns and separate families.
Giants were the reason that the whole city had been on high alert now for MONTHS.
Now knowing that his roommate, someone he’d grown to call a friend, was a sizeshifter, he felt betrayed.
Tommy probably felt the same.
Tubbo turned back around as he heard Ranboo shuffling.
He was met with brown eyes much larger than his own, and he stared into them, refusing to back down.
Their silent contest was short, coming to an end when Ranboo looked away and guilt flooded his face.
After that Tubbo took a moment to examine him more closely, being met with the realization that the giant seemed more panicked than they were.
The boy was still weary and grew even more so as he felt the sizeshifter’s unrhythmic breathing roll across him like a summer breeze.
Having heard the stories about other sizeshifters, the teen doubted this was as large as Ranboo could get.
As he once again felt the giants breathing his mind started to overwhelm him. Thoughts ran through his head, telling him that he was nothing compared to him, no more important or larger in size than an ant.
Tubbo violently shuddered as he took a step back, his brain suddenly thinking about how if Ranboo really wanted to, it would be oh so easy for him to hurt them. All he’d have to do was reach out a giant hand and they’d fit so easily into the palm of it.
When the teen turned around to look back at his roommate despite his rising panic, some small part of his brain whispered, ’This is Ranboo. He’s your roommate, your friend, you can trust him. You know him. Ranboo’s still the same anxious and skittish person despite his size. Look at him, he looked even more panicked than you are.’
And it was true. The other teen looked terrified.
Ranboo’s eyes were blown open wide in panic and Tubbo could tell (even without being able to feel it) that his breathing was frantic. His mouth kept opening and closing as if he wanted to speak, but each time it opened it was shut again before any words could be said.
Tubbo looked over as he saw Tommy slightly shiver, the boy's gaze fixated on something ahead of them.
He slowly followed Tommy’s gaze and had to suppress a shiver of his own as he realized that his friend was staring at the sharp teeth that aligned Ranboo’s shifting jaw.
They had heard stories of sizeshiftes eating people or giants that reportedly liked to savor the taste of humans before crushing them for a meal.
As much as the people of Essempi tried to hide away those stories and pretend like it didn’t scare them, it terrified them.
That’s why they built the wall. That’s why eventually the council gave the order that to harbor knowledge of a shapeshifter or giant was treason and they were to be reported immediately to authorities.
Tubbo was snapped out of his thoughts as he heard the giant speak.
“I- I can explain.” Ranboo’s voice was barely a whisper to him but despite that it slightly echoed for the smaller teens.
“What is there to explain, it’s clear as day what you are.”
Tubbo was surprised to hear the cold words out of Tommy’s mouth, but overall the boy's words were a reflection of how they both were feeling.
At that statement Ranboo’s eyes widened even more and his mouth silently opened and closed.
He was about to speak before he forced himself downwards, the room slightly shaking as a result of him growing a few more inches. His hand involuntarily slid forward, brushing against their legs and causing both of them to scramble back.
Tommy moved so quickly that he tripped over his own feet, forcing Tubbo to catch him before he fell.
They grabbed onto each other’s arms to stabilize themselves, sharing a look before turning their attention back to the sizeshifter in the room.
Tubbo asked the only question he could think of.
“Why are you here and why now of all times, did you decide to shift?”
“Well you see, I didn’t really have much choice in the matter.” Ranboo admitted, keeping his gaze on the floor.
“What do you mean?” Tommy said, once again becoming a part of the conversation.
“I- I” He studdered. “I don’t have control over my shifting it just sort of, it’s just based on my emotions.”
The giant squeezed his eyes closed as his breathing became more frantic. The duo obviously noticed this so they seized the opportunity to have much-needed conversation.
Tubbo lifted his eyebrows as he mouthed the words, “Do we call him in?”
Tommy replied with the slightest shake of his head quietly saying,
“There’s nothing we can do with him this size, if we call the authorities it will make him more stressed and he’ll bring the apartment down around us. It’s already a miracle nobody else has heard us.”
“Well what do we do?”
“We do whatever we can.” Tommy shrugged.
After talking it over they came up with the next best plan of action.
The two pushed what furniture there was left (some of it having been already moved aside) to the edge of the wall, making space for the sizeshifter. Tubbo couldn’t help but notice that as they did so Ranboo, little by little, started to untense and loosen his muscles.
He felt a pang of sympathy travel through him as he thought about how uncomfortable that must have been. It was quickly squashed down when he realized who it was for.
Still he wasn’t cruel….
With a begrudging sigh he grabbed Tommy and told him his plan. He reluctantly agreed so together they dragged the couch towards the back wall.
Ranboo was watching them with slitted eyes, tensing when they turned towards him.
Tubbo shifted nervously before speaking up, “Since we don’t have anything to accommodate you at this size we have to make do with what we have. You can’t fit on the couch but you could lean your head on it, if you want.”
The sizeshifter hesitated before mumbling,
“Yea, that would be nice.”
With that confirmation Tommy and Tubbo stood over in the far corner as Ranboo shifted into a more comfortable position.
It was slow going but they eventually found out that no matter which way the giant turned he still took up most of the area and still blocked the hall that led to the other rooms.
Ranboo sighed as he leaned his head on the couch, exhaling long and hard through his nose. There was no room left for Tommy and Tubbo to sleep on the floor so with nowhere else to go Ranboo moved his head over to one side of the couch while they sat on the other.
The couch dipped noticeably lower on Ranboo’s side of the couch and Tubbo shivered at yet another reminder of their difference in size.
There was a tense silence as they all stayed awake, nobody talking yet nobody sleeping.
It was probably around the wee hours of morning when Ranboo let his eyes drift close. His breathing became a constant drone for the two boys as he slept.
Tubbo and Tommy both stayed up, determined to outlast each other in their silent competition.
After another hour Tubbo started struggling to hold his head upright and couldn’t hide his bleary eyes.
Tommy cleared his throat before softly speaking,
“Tubbo, Big Man, I’ll stay up and watch while you sleep.”
The teen had to stifle a yawn,
“Are you sure, I don’t want you to have to stay up alone or have to deal with”
There was a slight pause before he continued,
“this alone.”
“I’ll be fine, just try to get some sleep.” Tommy thought for a moment before adding on as an afterthought, “If you can.”
“I’ll try. Wake me up in a few hours so that I can watch.”
“I will Tubbo, I will.”
Tubbo shifted as much as he could before whispering, “G’d night Tommy.”
“Night.”
After that Tubbo was pulled into anxious dreams and feverish thoughts. The teen hated thinking about the source of the sound but if the constant droning and slight vibration that surrounded him helped him sleep even the slightest bit better, nobody had to know.
I apologize for the bad editing but it is late, I am tired, and I wrote an extra 500 words without meaning to.
Post the 2nd part of the changing sizes au right now 👿 (if it’s done)
Nope *pops the p* it is in fact NOT done but since I’ve been asked I will instead give some head-cannons for the au.
Some of this has been hinted at in the first part but I will be elaborating.
-Ranboo used to live out in the forest with some others and had been making a supply run before he got stuck in the town.
-Ranboo’s shifting is very emotion based and he tends to always shift bigger and very rarely ever shifts smaller. When he does go smaller he likes to be near someone he trusts. (Preferably in their pockets)
-Whenever Ranboo’s taller then his friends he gets very protective of them, much like a mother hen.
-Since Ranboo has to live in the city Tommy and Tubbo end up helping him get a job at a burger joint.
-Ranboo’s friend may or may not have gotten too close to the town while looking for him and that’s how they got caught.
-Ranboo has shifted in front of people he thought he could trust before and well, let’s just say he’s not eager to repeat that.
Anyways that’s all I have currently but this was intended to be a one-shot but I had to post this really quickly (hence the terrible name) and so there is only 1 (maybe 2) more parts.
That being said I will most likely make this into an au (getting asks will help) so there is still hope!
So, I am in the final stages of writing part 2 and I have LOVED every second of writing this.
That being said I have two things I’d like to address
1. So I realized that the world this au takes place in has technology. ‘Why don’t they just use advanced weapons to take the giants out?’
They don’t because in this world there was never really a reason for modern weapons to be developed until recently after the giants first came (100-ish years ago). Only the very rich have guns and you are more likely to be mugged at sword-point then at gunpoint. Yes believe me I know that it is a horrible reason why since they have stuff like tv’s and phones but it’s the best I can think of right now and does it matter, ‘No, no it does not’.
2. So, regarding part 2.....
For me I’ve always thought that whenever there is a ‘Giant/Shapeshifter Revealed’ moment 99% of the time (at least in what I’ve read) the characters kinda just..... accept it.
I mean they have a slight panic and then the giant’s just like.
“It’s not what it looks like, I’m still me- yada yada yada.”
Then the smaller character is like,
“It will take some time for me to trust you, you’re still scary, but together we’ll get through this.”
Very rarely is there ever really *snaps belt* TENSION. (Or at least prolonged tension.)
I’m going in a different direction for the 2nd part of my fic and some people won’t like it but I think it fits best for the situation. I mean, they’ve known Ranboo for about 8 months and then find out he’s a sizeshifter (the people who literally caused the city to go on lock down) they’re not just going to believe in the power of friendship.
Sorry for my mini-rant there but I kinda just wanted to say that (and also leak part 2 a bit).
Oh! I have questions for the Ranboo sizeshifter au!!
Does Ranboo work at Wilbur’s burger joint, perhaps?
Is Ranboo’s other sizeshifter friend anyone in particular?
Are the people who Ranboo shifted in front of anyone in particular?
👀👀👀👀
Ok so I left these mostly blank because I haven’t 100% thought them out but I’ll share what I can
-Ranboo does work at Wilbur’s burger joint but Wilbur is rarely around to manage it leaving it mostly to his assistant, Puffy.
-Yes Ranboo’s sizeshifter friend IS someone who will come in later once I figure out how to write it. (I am VERY tempted to say who but I have to restrain myself)
-I threw that last part in there mostly for the angst but now that I’m thinking about it…… yes it is a specific person and I will (probably) write more into his backstory once I get the chance.
Thanks for the ask! You raised some good questions that I hadn’t thought about before :)
