Dear past me,

Dear past me,

The struggle with writing this letter is the fact that there are so many past-me’s that I could write about. I am constantly evolving, I’m not the same person I was even five minutes ago, maybe last month. They’re subtle changes, but they’re there.

To one of my past me’s, you were extremely depressed. Full of anxiety, covered in cuts. Believe it or not, this won’t last forever. It all will get better, not all of your therapists will be as shitty as your first one; and, while you’re in treatment you’ll meet some really amazing people. But, you also have to realize that this will never go away. It’s a constant battle but you have to keep fighting because there is so much in life that is worth it.

To me this past December, put that pill bottle down girl your time has not come yet. Stop stressing out so much, because in a few months everything will fall into place on its own. I’m proud of you for asking for help. Soon we’ll work on showing your true self, this mask is getting heavy.

To my childhood past-me, I don’t remember very much at all about you, since I blocked out most of my childhood. But, one of the things I remember is that you were always so blindly kind and accepting to everybody. Ignore the bullies because they don’t know what the hell they’re saying. Appreciate your dad because he won’t be around for long. Please, don’t let anybody crush your spirit of learning and love (I know I still have it deep within). Although you may have been a bit catty, you were still a good child, and you always did love inventing stories.
