WILD COYOTE
Luca always felt like an outsider. He had a temper for as long as he could remember and for years, he couldn’t understand why. Why did he have these abrupt tantrums? Why was his hands always balled into fists? It wasn’t until he entered middle school when he realized that his anger was directed at himself. He hated the person he saw in the mirror every morning. No amount of therapy ever helped. What did help, was his friends Maddy and Jasmine. They meant everything to him until high school when he got bullied for having two dads. People thought that meant he was gay, too. And being friends with girls instead of other boys didn’t help stop the rumors. It only fueled them. So Luca put on a mask and hid behind this toxic need to be the alpha male. It worked…He was an alpha male but he wasn’t happy anymore. His self-entitlement and red-blooded bravado turned him against his friends (the only real ones he’s ever had) and now he had no one. Just some strange girl on the back of his motorcycle.
From the outside of the bar, Luca could tell Nocturnal was having one of its busier nights. He wasn’t sure what could have pulled in such a big crowd, but the ebb and flow of patrons assured him it was something special. Free beer? A hot new coyote? A special karaoke performance by a celeb? Whatever or whoever was behind the night’s bustling success had everyone in the bar pushing and shoving to get a better look. “What the hell is it, free booze night?” Luca asked someone who was standing beside him. @wildfloweur
