The sword of the day is the charay.

The charay, also known as the Khyber knife, is a short sword originating from the Khyber pass in Pakistan, though similar blades can be found throughout India and Persia. Despite its simple silhouette, it is a deceptively complex sword. The spine of the blade is raised, giving the blade a T-shaped cross section that lends it a tremendous amount of rigidity and strength despite its relatively thin blade.

Large 19th Century Charay/Khyber Sword – with Scabbard

Total: 72cm

This very large Charay, also known as a Khyber sword is in very good condition. The blade is near  mint and very sharp. There are a few chips to the ivory handle but the rest is completely solid.

The scabbard has decorative iron furniture and is in very good condition for its age. The main body is leather over a wooden core with engraved patterning. The eleven sided ferule is capped with a decorative finial

The hilt is composed of ivory and patterned steel and inspire of the small damage is in excellent condition.

This is a beautiful example of this iconic weapon,

Because this contains ivory we can unfortunately not ship this outside the UK.
