May Donation Partnership: Help Us Support the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement!

This month we’ll be donating $2 to the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement for every purchase of our Dreamer Classic Knee Highs.

Right now, 5.8 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer’s, and two thirds of them are women. The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement is dedicated to spreading awareness about this disease, providing support for those suffering from it and their families, and advocating for new studies and research into Alzheimer’s.

Pick up a pair of socks to help us raise money for this organization, and while you’re at it, read up on some little-know facts about this disease, and what you can do to keep you (and your brain) healthy.

April Donation Partnership: Help Us Give to the Trevor Project!

Every month, we add a new organization to our rotating Donation Partnerships, where we team up with our customers to help make the world a little better, one step at a time.

This month we’ll be donating $3 to the Trevor Project for every pair of our Oops! Dreamer Retro Starburst OTKs. Founded in 1998, the Trevor Project provides lifelines for LGBTQIA+ youth across America, through crisis lines, suicide prevention training, and research into suicidology. They were the first real crisis line targeted specifically at this community, and continue to offer a safe, accepting environment.

For our first Donation Partnership of 2019, we picked a local organization that helps people transition from homelessness to housing. They provide shelters, affordable housing, and social services to help people in the Portland, OR area.

For every pair of these leg warmers sold during January, $3 will go to help Transition Projects!

March Donation Partnership: Rise Against Hunger

Every month, we add a new organization to our rotating Donation Partnerships, where we team up with our customers to help make the world a little better, one step at a time.

This month we’ll be donating $2 to Rise Against Hunger for every pair of our Marled Slouch Socks sold. Rise Against Hunger is a global relief organization that is focused on eliminating hunger once and for all. They work in disaster relief, emergency resources, and community education, among other things, to help communities overcome hunger.

February Donation Partnership: Southern Poverty Law Center

The SPLC has been working since 1971 to fight injustice on the behalf of minority and vulnerable groups. They tackle institutional racism, segregation, and unfair laws that allow discrimination to continue.

Among other things, their Intelligence Project works to expose the activities of hate groups and extremists, and their Teaching Tolerance program focuses on free educational materials to combat the roots of prejudice.

For all of February we’ll be donating $3 to the SPLC for every pair of Dreamy Striped OTK Tube Socks & Dreamy Knee HighTube Socks sold!

For each purchase of the Dreamer Long Proud Stripes Tubes, $1 goes to this international organization that helps protect the rights of LGBT+ individuals everywhere.

The Q Center

For each purchase of the Dreamer Proud Stripes Crews and OTKs, and the Dreamer Cotton Proud Stripes Crews and Thigh Highs, $1 goes to this local community space in Portland, OR, that is devoted to providing a safe place for LGBT+ people and programs.

SAGE

For every purchase of the Dreamer Short Proud Stripes Tubes, $1 goes to this organization that provides support, advocacy, and connection for LGBT+ elders.

If you haven’t seen our Dreamer Proud Stripes before, they are based off of various pride flags, all made here in the USA. In our acrylic yarns we’re currently able to represent the asexual, trans, pansexual, bisexual, genderqueer, nonbinary, and rainbow pride flags, and in our cottons we’re currently able to represent the lesbian and aromantic pride flags. As yarn availability changes, so may our color options, but we’re trying to represent as many flags as we can, as accurately as we can.

The Environmental Defense Fund has been working to support important environmental causes since the 1960s, and are now one of the largest environmental organizations in the world. They are committed to bipartisan environmentalism, and have worked to promote strong laws involving climate change, clean energy, and sustainable fishing around the globe, just to name a few.

The socks we’ve picked to go with this donation are the Dreamer Elemental Striped Midcalf, which comes in five colorways inspired by the elements, and our Dreamer Striped Alpaca Crew, which is perfectly padded for hiking through the forests EDF (and your donation) is working to protect.
