Laila knew better than to bring a fury into the apartment. While it was neutral territory to meet at the gym, bringing Sofia up into the shared space above it felt like a crossing of boundaries that she didn’t feel were hers to surpass, and so she had suggested that the two meet for lunch instead of sharing beer on the balcony of the other woman’s apartment again. She wasn’t very polite, as they sat outside she tugged her knee up, resting her foot on the chair, and balancing a cocktail while they waited for their appetizers to come out. “Hektor’s around,” Laila noted, looking over at her friend over the top of her menu, not bothering to pad the thought with small talk. They knew each other well enough to know it wasn’t necessary. “Last moon it seemed like all the vampires knew it too, you could see them all outside of Void, acting up.”
