Thankfully, alpha duties eventually drew Cas away and gave Milo a much-needed moment to make a break for it. He wasn’t good at staying in one place for very long so the pack house had quickly become stifling despite being filled with just about the only people he could stand to interact with on a regular basis. Besides, there was a book waiting for him. He wasn’t leaving just to leave, nope. He made his way carefully through the paths, hood up, and hands in his pockets, dutifully trying to look as inconspicuous as he could, but he couldn’t resist lighting up as he walked.
The smoke burned his chest in the best way and he was rapidly resettling into his skin as he felt more like himself than he had in a few days. The small library appeared empty when he first stepped into it after crushing the cigarette (even he could and would respect the few books they were granted) but quickly realized he had no idea what he was looking for. Doc’d just said a book. Fuck. He was going to have to play a guessing game and he hated guessing games.
Or…maybe not.
There was a familiar shape at one of the tables and Milo did the best he could to minimize his limp as he walked over and dropped into one of the vacant chairs around him. “Keiran.” He greeted quietly. “How’s it going?” He was constantly being reminded that people liked being asked about themselves and he didn’t necessarily hate the conversations that Keiran could provide, nor was he in a rush to be anywhere else for once. Plus, if anyone would know what he was looking for, it’d likely be him. “Seen any new…science-y books lying around here?” He asked faux-casually.
