“I uh— I’m very sorry for what happened Slate” Rush said, and it was odd, his tone, didn’t seem to fit with his voice, but he couldn’t quite believe it. It had only been recent that they had discussed the possibility of him being a tribute, and Slate had shared that it’s definitely not something he’d wanted, and now they were stood here. “I can help— with whatever you need, I can teach you about the plants” he offered then, knew it wasn’t much, but wanted to help however he could.

“Nothing says district twelve like a lanky kid who looks like he needs a good dinner or two” Ezra chuckled to himself. He’d watched the reapings on his way here, always important to keep on top of the competition. He knew it wasn’t smart to rule anybody out so early, but he could probably safely say, twelve was definitely not an ally you wanted, or needed, in any kind of arena.

“How do you always find me?” Saph asked as she heard someone approach, and she’d recognise those lanky legs anywhere. She was pretending to be annoyed, because that’s how her and Slate worked, but really, she didn’t mind, she rather it be him than the majority of people inside the building. “You’re sort of stalker I think”

"What would you do in this type of arena?" Rush asked Slate who was sat next to him as they watched the live footage play out. Rush didn't really like to watch, it made him feel icky, but he felt like he should, even if he didn't know how to help them either way. "I'd be lost, I think I was actually kind of lucky in mine-- at least it had plants and stuff"

Saph was just about holding onto the stack of magazines, the scissors resting dangerously on top of the pile as she kicked Slate’s door with her boot. “Stop playing with yourself and come get the fucking door” she said through the door, loud enough to carry through the wall, giving the door another few kicks as she readjusted the pile in her arms, willing them not to fall.

“Are you sad you’re not my date tonight?” Saph asked when she finally found Slate, smirking as she teased him, because it might be her favourite thing to do. “Are you all on your lonesome? Or did mummy bring you as hers?”

“Hey, at least it’s not your party this time” Abel shoulder nudged Slate once he’d run into him outside, pulling his pack of cigarettes out of his jacket pocket. “Not sure if it gets better or worse each time, but Linden is a lovely victor, at least” he smiled, although that didn’t mean he hadn’t been grieving Oxford and Farina still. They would have been lovely victors just as much.

"Have you ever had one of these?" Rush asked, popping the cigarette back between his lips. "Father said they help you grow hair on your chest" he explained, and unfortunately for Rush, he'd had access to cigarettes (or the equivalent) from a young age. "The ones in the capitol make my head spin a bit though" probably due to the tobacco count being about 80% more than they had back in eleven.
