From a Damos winged au I’ve been drafting up, from Marcus’ pov in first person. You get two paragraphs cause I like it a lot

Dark brown colors his nape as it transitions from humanity to monstrosity. Feathers lengthen with every inch of skin until they go from short, stubby things faintly resembling hair to full plumage. I don’t have the heart to look at the ends of his wings; they stretch out like they are reaching for the sky, like a human of his rank rightfully should.

The damned things look like they’ve been stolen off a bird’s back. They fade from the deep brown to a pale gray, the color akin to some winged magical creatures I had once seen by the sea.
