I made the selfie stick portion of the assignment.
The materials I needed were:
The tools I needed to create the selfie stick were:
Cut your broom stick down to the desire length using a chop saw. For our assignment, I chose a length of 2 feet.
Cut down your dustpan to the desire shape. Remember this will hold your phone so make sure you don’t make it too small or it will be too flimsy and/or won’t fit the phone. I chose to outline the phone with an inch of room all around to get my desire shape and size.
Drill a hole that is the same size as your screw approximately one centimetre from the edge of the broom stick.
Using the same drill bit size as before, drill a hole through the dustpan handle where you want your screw to go through. Make sure that the screw will be able to go through cleanly from one side to the other.
Line up the holes you made by placing the end of the broom stick alongside the dustpan handle and put your screw through the whole thing.
Tighten down your wing nut on the screw. This will allow for the adjustability that the dustpan needs so you can chose the selfie stick angle based on your needs.
Attach tape to the end of the broom stick that you will be holding for a comfortable grip.
Cut two slits in the dustpan, using your pocket knife, based on the size of your phone. These slits will allow for the velcro strap to go through, which will ultimately hold down your phone.
Insert velcro strap. Check to make sure your phone is held securely by the strap.
Cheer because you just made a selfie stick using low cost items. Now go out and use it and make everyone around you jealous with your super awesome selfie stick.
That was my process for making my low cost selfie stick. I hope you like it!!
