Working the close shift at work we thought we were clear when it came to customers left milling about. A few minutes after close, when I was starting to shut down my til a customer walked up and handed me a few items. He then explained to me that there were a few larger items still on their way up, he had been there since half an hour before and staff were having trouble locating the items for him in the warehouse. Instead of getting upset at the fact of being closed but still waiting for a transaction I struck up a conversation with the guy while we waited. A few minutes later his items arrived, I cashed him out and continued to pack up the til while staff helped him load the vehicle. Today’s random act of kindness: not blaming someone for the reality of the situation.
Getting upset over something that is beyond anyone’s control is pointless, it will only create frustration for everyone involved. Often times it’s best to take things with a grain of salt and just help things flow along as calmly as possible.
