The Pushkin Duel Site. The tragic duel (yes, ‘tragic’ because he got his fatal wound on the first hit.... but pls give the guy a break, dude’s a writer fighting a French military officer rumoured to be pursuing his wife) happened on Jan 27th 1837 (he died on the 29th as seen on the first photo), which is February 8th on the Gregorian calendar. . . An open book + quill, his coat, and his hat — this is the small Pushkin tribute/memorial that you’ll see right across Chyornaya Rechka station. Went here on our last day in SPB to go to Pushkin’s duel site which was a mile or two from the metro. Seemed much farther with all the snow but hey, the things we do for our favourite poets. Lol.
