                there was a first for everything,  wasn’t there??    it wasn’t often that outsiders came into town,  even less often that he would know about it from some place other than overhearing conversations happening near him.    but for that person to come up to him &. ask what was wrong,  &. then react to his blindness as if he had caught something that could be passed on??    it was almost laughable if he wasn’t initially confused.    “    you   --   you won’t catch it.    it’s ‘cause i got hurt.    ”
