Château de Cheverny
Château de Cheverny is located in Cheverny, Loir-et-Cher, France. Built in the 17th century by the Hurault family and inspired by the Palais de Luxembourg. The French Classical castle has remained in the Hurault family for six generations. The Marquis and Marquise of Vibraye are the current owners. The interior boasts an Italian Renaissance staircase, a library with 200 antique books, 16th and 17th tapestries and furnishings, the king’s bedroom, a large painted panel salon, and a massive armory with painted beams and wood panels. The chateau hasn’t been modified since the 17th century and retains its original architectural design. The Bourré
stone used to build the structure becomes lighter over time. The exterior has a canal running through the property, a botanical park, many gardens with geometric patterns, a hedge maze, and an orangery that has been converted into a tea room. There’s also a kennel on the property created in 1850 that houses more than 100 hunting dogs. It was opened to the public in 1922.
