The folks were Islamic I heard, and Nathan was beating his drum to help stop the tension, he walked into the boys to purposefully help calm them and urge them to not retaliate out of anger. But the issue with this post is that they're trying to make a man who was trying to help diffuse a situation by making it seem he was after some poor little white boy and are using an old criminal record to back themselves up. Which they probably wouldn't bother to do if the kid wasn't a Trump supporter.
Tho tbh a shouting match wouldn’t have broken out if the kids didn’t support Trump either so :/
I’ve heard that they’re Islamic also, but for some reason in the back of my head I’m remembering distinctly that they weren’t Muslim?? Or maybe it’s that they weren’t the Muslim I was expecting (an actual group of black people isn’t the first thing that comes to mind) and that’s why I’m kicking back at them not falling within that.
Honestly, I do believe a shouting match would have still broken out with or without love to Trump because the group was majority black. Even overlooking the race card, “protests” do turn into Us vs Them, so there could have still been a verbal clash or physical confrontation (eg (Neo-)Nazis vs people).
But my brain is also trying to do weird things and make me go off-tangent so I’ll hop off this reply for now. I’ll probably reblog an additional reply later on because I do want to touch on Nathan as well, but my brain is… going weird.
Gimme like. Ten minutes. I’ll edit in a reply and reblog this.
Okay! Brain has piped down.
You are right, of course, about Nathan. That is a sadly common tactic that they use to point out THIS IS WHY HE’S THE BAD GUY and it’s just… pathetic. I will admit that the charge of assault does worry me, but I also don’t have all the information. I did have an employee that we had a charge come back on a background check. Something about false identity and… whatever the technical term was for non-cooperation with the police.
Dude was black and didn’t want to hand his ID over to the cops. We were like “Oh for fuck’s sake” and overlooked it because of bullshit charges being bullshit. But later on we realized the people he hung out with (I won’t say what came back on the background check) and I can’t help but wonder if it went further - I would not be surprised if he did have a fake ID on him because of one of his friends’ background check.
Because of my mom’s history with assault, and one of my aunt’s history… It is incredibly difficult for me to overlook an assault charge, it’s hard to not wonder if he still has anger problems and still is violent. But because of our former employee (the business was only around for 9 months) I do also have the mind of believing it to be bogus charges.
Sometimes I wish that things weren’t so complicated… But if they were always easy, what would be the point? We would stagnate…
