"Oh, okay. If you ever need it, though, don't hesitate to call me." Chiara smiled, placing gloved hands into her pockets. "When you finish, do you want to hang out? We can go get froyo. They have discounts if you have enough stamps on one of their promotional cards. I only need one more to get half-off on a purchase."
Blinking wide green, Shane nodded slowly. He had not been expecting such an invite, but was happy to take it for once. "If it isn't too much trouble for you, I could...," the shifter trailed off glancing in the direction of the not-quite-his house just a little ways away. "If you don't mind if I stop by my place to grab some clean clothes." He doubted she would appreciate having to deal with him and his less than attractive work out gear too.
"Ah, okay." Chiara nodded. "I don't think you will, Shane. You're working hard, so I don't see how you could fall behind. Do you need anyone to time you or anything? I'd like to help, if I can." If he accepted her offer, though, he'd have to explain what training for surf season entailed. The siren managed to keep up with certain aspects of an ever-changing world rather well, but she didn't know much about the kind of work that surfers put in before competitions took place.
Flushing slightly, Shane smiled and rubbed his nose bashfully. "Thank you, though it's really easy to let things slip.' He shrugged, blinking slowly. "Oh, you really don't have to go out of your way for me. I'm not doing anything too serious yet." The shifter pursed his lips. "I was just about to finish for the day, just thought I'd get in a few laps around for now. I just have to pace it till I can actually get out there with the weather as it is."
"As much as I prefer being able to see the sand and actually feel the sun, I'll admit I like the empty beach. I still want the weather to warm up, but once spring and summer arrive, the peace and quiet will be over. So I'm taking advantage of it while I still can." She explained. "And you? Regular outdoor run, or are you getting ready for surf season?"
Shane blinked taking in her explanation with quiet hesitance. "Yes, I think I understand your sentiments." Though, he really did miss the warmth of the sand and just the simple sounds of a busy beach. It was all a bit lonely without it. "Oh, well, the season is coming soon and I know Martian has been getting a jump on it, so I thought I would start training more often. I don't want to fall behind after all." He always felt he had to train three times as much just to end up a step behind the rest, but it was just his pacing really.
"Good to see all the cold hasn't kept you away from the beach, either." Chiara called out to Shane. She'd had the day off today, but preferred to spend it on the snow-covered beach, rather than staying indoors or in the other towns. Smiling as she approached, the siren kicked up bits of sand and snow with her boots, and brushed rebellious, golden strands of hair away from her face. "How are you, Shane?"
It was a short day at the bait shop for Shane and he hadn't a shift that night, so he decided to focus on his training. The Spring season was coming soon after all and he didn't want to fall too far behind the others. The lingering cold would not prevent him from it. The shifter'd run a few miles around the closest beach till he heard Chiara call out to him. "I'm doing just fine." He said, after a few labored breaths. "It is nice to see you out as well."
