Wisconsin! At a very nice rest area, where I had my last car sleep for the trip. Abraham Lincoln, one of the subjects of my current history of ideas series, was briefly engaged in the Black Hawk War. I'm on route to Chicago via Madison. Long adventurous stretches of driving will now give way to urban explorations with little or no driving.
