100 years ago today, a racist murdered a black boy for floating over an imaginary #segregation line in Lake Michigan, I am back here. 31st street beach is where #eugenewilliams and his friend starting floating, having fun. They didnt know that they had drifted over to the whites only 29th street beach after a white man started throwing rocks at the. Eugene was hit. He downed. The #ChicagoPolice refused to arrest the murder. The #chicagoraceriots started hours later. Today, the beach is a very serene place with a mix of skin tones and ethnicities. However we must not forget. For, whites used the riots to implement systems that still oppress the city today. It's not just a problem in the black community. Its citywide, nationwide. #Chicago is still segregated. Just look at real close. You'll see it.
