The story of The Legend of the Big White Dog and the Sacred Pole is a defining story in the history of the Chickasaw People.
This story is cool as shit from an anthropological perspective, since it depicts major political events in pre-European America that would otherwise have been forgotten! As a foundation myth* for us as a people, the themes represented here are still present in our culture! For instance, our dictionary was published by the White Dog press, or the usage of white and red from the staff throughout modern symbols of the tribe, including the two moieties!
