The first time Belle comes knocking at the Big Chief of All Police, Mr.Charles Valentine's office (or as she likes to refer to him as Mistuh Captain, Captain Boss, and occasionally Nightlight and Twinkle-tails), Charles isn't around. So, what does a eight year old child, who is prone to tantrums, do when she's in a quandary? She get into the habit of kicking doors down to get attention.
In the next hour, when Charles is back from a meeting, and it's dad-should-be-back-soon o'clock, no other officer is around to stop her from skidding through the station to get the Chief's attention. By the time he retires to his office again, door cracking open, Belle kicks it open wider.
"Unckle offisuh!" She yells, already panting, though her eyebrows are furrowed and serious as ever! Perhaps to match the already increasingly stressed man. "I havvuh report to hand in!" She finishes, arms crossed and dignified. And, there it was, a few pieces of lined paper and sticky notes in her arms. No doubt each question filled up half the page.
