My biggest headache in life.
Kirishima touching Bakugou: thoughts after Season 3 Episode 11
Kirishima touches Bakugou, and he seems to do it somewhat regularly, if we’re gonna base things off of scenes from the episodes and official art.
Most recently, Kirishima tries to grab Bakugou’s arm while saying “we should get him to the police,” and it got me thinking gee, Kirishima, we know you gay but you don’t gotta be on him 24/7. I thought that when I read the manga the first time, too, but seeing it animated made it even clearer, and I almost laughed about it...
But then I had an abrupt end to that thought and my amusement with it, and my heart dropped into my stomach because, regardless of whether or not Kirishima is actually gay for Bakugou, if my best friend had been kidnapped and I’d literally just gotten them back, I would be wanting to hold onto them, especially if moving through a crowd like they were about to. And, for someone like Kirishima, who is use to physical contact with said friend, constantly leaning on him, etc., then that’d be even more reason to touch him.
Touch is comforting, and it’s also a way that humans confirm that something is real, and we hold onto things to keep track of them. I feel like those are all factors in that small action Kirishima takes during that moment; holding onto Bakugou is a way of making sure he doesn’t get dragged away again, holding onto Bakugou after not being able to lean into him for a while is proof that Bakugou is actually still there, and it’s comforting to literally feel his presence.
Midoriya is in and out of consciousness for a few days, by the time they retrieve Bakugou, it’s been what, almost four days? Kirishima has been worried sick about his best friend for days, and he finally has him back. Can’t blame him for wanting to get a literal grip on Bakugou until they could get Bakugou somewhere even safer than where they already were, and for having any other reason to want to do it.
Congrats, Horikoshi sensei and Studio Bones, for ripping my heart out again.
