Ok so, just drew Kurumi Tokisaki from Date A Live and let me tell you about how this beautiful specimen of anime girl has impacted the way I am now.
So, a lot younger-me was scrolling on YouTube, I had very little experience with internet culture, animes and, while I did play video games from an extremely young age (I did play my first Pokémon game before I was able to read properly), I had never dived into other medias; but just then I came face to face with an “Anime mix Amv” in which there were like, 10 seconds in which Kurumi Tokisaki was there.
But let me tell you, little me got fixated on her and for weeks I tried to search more info, but there weren’t any in Italian, which is why I constantly googled English words just to understand the videos talking about her.
So first thing Kurumi did was playing an important part in my learning of the English lexicon.
Secondly I started searching animes, which really led me to become a fan of so many series. Honestly, Date a Live was underwhelming and I hated how little screen time my girl had (at least , she had little screen time until I stopped watching after I don’t remember what season) and how she was treated in a too simple way, when she could have been so much more complex. So the fixation stopped for a bit.
That is until the OVA Date a Bullet came out and the hyperfixation came back stronger than ever before, and lemme tell you again: I loved that ova, I loved the Kurumi screen time, I was just elated.
Especially cuz Kurumi’s design still influences a LOT of my ocs designs and palettes and she has been a very important character for me, starting my love for anime, mangas which then lead to the indie animations, drawing, writing and creating.
I really owe this character a lot and I hope I made her justice with my not so well done drawing
