Sleeping Hot Solutions
In the summer we sleep with the A/C down around 70°, as well as having the overhead fan on and a separate floor fan running. We both "sleep hot," meaning that while we're sleeping we tend to sweat and have a generally restless night. What are your options when you don't want the A/C and fans running all night? Until recently I thought there were none. Then I heard of the Chili Bed, a memory foam mattress with water-pumping coils running under the surface. The bed allows for a temperature between 46-100°. They even offer a dual sided mattress for couples with different sleeping temps. The drawback is that it's pretty expensive (I've seen prices over $3000) and I'm unsure about how much electricity the thing will consume. What about the Bedfan? The Bedfan is a thin fan that sits at the foot of your bed at the bottom of the boxspring, between the boxspring and footboard, which blows air under the sheets to keep you cool. When I first heard of this I wanted one badly, but after watching the demonstration video on their website, I'm unsure. I fear that I would actually get too cold! But at about $75, it's much more affordable than the Chili Bed.
