-The Faerie blurted out loud, before realizing the other two could, in fact, not hear the voice and we're looking at him. He promptly burried his face in his hands.-

“Fuuucccckkkkkkkking DAMN IT.”

-Silverbell froze where he stood, unable to breathe for a moment.-

“..No. No, no, no.. He wouldn't do that to me! He wouldn't- He- He promised, I-..”

-Silverbell choked back a sob, his body shaking as his wings drooped down. He felt as though his legs were going to give out. Witches, he felt sick. So, so sick. Tears welled in his eyes.-

“..I guess once a liar.. always a liar.. Huh..?”

-His hands balled into fists as tears began to race down his face, and they didn't stop. He broke down, collapsing onto the floor as he sobbed. He had trusted him, and maybe that was his own fault.

But he at least thought he had the grace to not tear his heart out of his chest.

This was the final straw.-

-Silverbell was laying in bed, hands placed over his stomach as he looked up at the ceiling. The twins were long past fast asleep and typically, Silverbell would be too, yet tonight was different. The ever so muted sounds of crickets chirping in the garden was the only noise in the bedroom, the only light coming from a scrawy lamp. He didn't know how long he had been laying there, just staring.

He had heard the flower, yet never replied. Even as it wilted away, he never quite acknowledged it. Yet he heard, and it rang through his head like rusted bells, agitating and deafening. He couldn't bring himself to care, and that was the scary part. He has just felt numb, empty. It was a constant loop, a constant circle. He didn't have the energy to care anymore.

His mother was back, alive — he should be happy! But, he wasn't. Lily was still trapped in yet another cage. He was so close to helping her, just this once, and then they were interrupted. He had to leave before he got caught and one or both of them were hurt. His heart ached. The witches just made him think that things may just be looking up after so long, and yet.. just like that, it was gone again.

Again.

Again.

Again.

Silverbell had learned he hated repetition like that. He swore it was driving him insane, the way things kept repeating like a dog chasing it's tail never quite able to catch it. It made him sick. It made him hurt. It made him want nothing more than to be held in the arms of the Universe where he didn't need to be stressed anymore. Where he didn't need to be strong. Where, for once, it felt like things were right, he was wanted, and he didn't have to be afraid anymore.

He shifted in the bed, alone as was usual these days, finally moving to lay on his side. He stared at the door, the small dying light of hope within him thinking that maybe, just maybe, Sapphire would come home. That he would tell him the truth and they could talk. That he would try to put more effort into being there, for him, and for their kids.

But he never did.

Silverbell was never enough. Not for Sapphire, not for his family, not for anyone. He hadn't ever been. He was left in an orphanage where nobody wanted him. During training, other Knights tried killing him — Witches, even the Guardian did, — the one person who felt the same pain as him grew to hate him, Elder Faerie used him until he was bored, he had always done something wrong in their eyes. It was times such as these why he wondered why that snake hadn't just killed him in that cave, or why Elder Faerie hadn't when Silverbell revealed that he knew what the Guardian had done.

He was drowning. He was never once able to catch his breath, not since that box. It had been one thing after another since then. The horrid repetition that haunted him like a ghost. He wondered if it would ever stop. If he would ever get a break, a moment to catch his breath. He doubted it. The horizon was dark and gloomy. It would continue. It would continue until it killed him. The constant repetition.

Repetition.

Time.

His sister.

He hugged his blanket close to his chest, pulling up his knees to be in what was now a fetal position. Silverbell didn't notice that tears had begun to prick out from his eyes. He couldn't cry, not properly. He didn't have the energy to, he didn't care anymore. A sharp inhale, and shaky exhale was the closest he would get to that. Into the dark room, the Faerie spoke to no one. Perhaps he hoped the universe would hear him, the words so very quiet they sounded almost like a prayer.

Like a desperate plea.

Maybe he didn't care if anyone heard him. They hadn't before.-

“I'm so.. tired..”

-Was all he said, his tone blank as he continued walking.-
