The first time Obama got elected in 2008; I cried watching his speech last night at the DNC. He was the first president I’ve ever voted for, and the only one actually.

Take melatonin, wrap up my convos with my friends on Skype, maybe watch a cartoon or two, brush my teeth, take my makeup off, get super comfy, and play with Jessie (aka try one last ditch attempt to wear her out before I sleep).

A: What are/were this character’s best subjects in school?Angel always had a penchant for history and government—no surprise as an aspiring politician/senator's son. He's got a good head for dates and how events and people connect to each other. N: What do they usually eat for breakfast?Depends on how much of a hurry he's in, but black coffee is a constant. Pain au chocolat in a local café is a favorite weekend breakfast, but otherwise any combination of eggs (omelets included), sausage, toast, and fruit are fair game.G: How do they flirt? In mixed company, covertly, if at all. He's pretty paranoid. Otherwise, he tries to engage in the chase (i.e. having others chase him), but he's not very good at being patient. He's physical and his flirting style reflects that. He's also pretty unromantic—phone apps meant for hookups don't require much pretense.E: How are they with children?He's not bad with them. He's a big brother, but his sister's only a couple of years younger, so he never really had much of a lead on her age-wise. He would engage with/appease a kid for an amount of time, but probably get tired of them after awhile. He would actually make a decent father later in life if he got his shit together, but he's in no rush (even if his mother seems insistent on grandchildren). In spite of their distance, both in the form of geography and Angel's secrets, they care a lot about each other. He admires his father to a fault, loves his mother in spite of her constant nagging, and would probably be even more of a mess without his little sister, Bianca.

However, they also have many positive traits, so some of the positive Cancer characteristics include creativity, spontaneity, loyalty, and generosity.” Take out spontaneity, and you’ve pretty much got me down.Fern: What makes you happiest?Creating things, being with my family or closest friends, the way my dog straight up tackles me when I come home, going to basketball games, singing karaoke, taking pictures, indulging in nostalgia, seeing wild animals, getting a package in the mail, and eating really good food. Ivy: Favorite part of the holidays?Buying gifts for people I care about, icing cookies with my family, and being at home. Also, it’s the biggest chunk of time I have off all year and I can revert to being a kid with no responsibilities, even if just for awhile.

Iris: Favorite eye color?I used to want blue eyes more than anything when I was young—and I loved them on other people too. But I think as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized a lot of my favorite faces have warm brown eyes. And it’s made me appreciate mine more too!
Lilac: Your aesthetic?Clouds right before sunset, anime blush lines, a rumpled yet comfortable bed, limited color palettes, botanical illustrations, the sparkle emoji, dark denim skinny jeans, winged eyeliner, animals in hoodies, ink strokes, eye bagsRue: Forest or field?Forest all the way. Love the chance to see wildlife and get a little lost in the moss and cool shade. Violet: TV show most likely to binge watch?The real answer is anything and everything... but I’ve seen Naruto through twice so that’s gotta count for something. Also Chopped because it’s on like virtually all the time and it’s like brain junk food. Wisteria: Favorite movie?Really hard to answer this one coherently... My pretentious sounding answer is Modern Times, but Charlie Chaplin is just one of my favorite people ever. Please watch it, it is so so funny. I also love like, every Miyazaki film I’ve ever seen and also really appreciate Scorsese. Lately I’ve really enjoyed Mad Max: Fury Road and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

1. Who or what is inspiring your art/art style right now?I’ve admittedly been a bit rusty/inconsistent lately, but one of my favorite artists on Tumblr and biggest inspirations is @sarakipin. Lines, texture, color—everything. Just gorgeous stuff. She definitely influenced a lot of the way I think about color. Other inspiration is always posted to my illustration tag. Also Naruto and Steven Universe probably.5. Do you draw the head shape first then add the details, or start with the eyes then work the shape of the head around them?I always start with general shapes, roughing in the basic proportions. I do that cliché circle with a cross through it for the head then place the eyes and features. My initial sketch tends to be super rough then I drop the opacity and draw a final lineart layer on top. Here’s a process gif of a Garnet drawing I did awhile back.
6. What colour do you use the most?This was actually a super interesting exercise for me to break down the colors I use when I’m actually actively thinking about color! Rather than choosing one, here are three main palettes I think I gravitate towards.
