WIP A Thrawn and Ezra Adventure Part 2 (Family Matters)

For some context, here is Part 1: A Thrawn and Ezra Adventure: Ice Moon of Bantar. The sequel is taking a longer time to organize and fill out than expected.  The big hunks are there, but I am still trying to tie it all together. Here’s a snipit if you’re interested:

Ezra lifted his hands and created an invisible barrier with the force. The lethal oily ooze began to pile up against the invisible wall. Saianna gasped at the sight, afraid Ezra’s method was only holding off the inevitable.

Saianna looked at Ezra and said “I am protecting my babies! No time for Force Woo-woo. I walk with Hefestis today!” Saianna slid the pack off her back as the black ooze came forward.  

Ezra called out to out to her “Saianna! Get b-Oh Kriff!”

Ezra leap out of Saianna’s path as she lifted the long barrel of a flame thrower at the ooz. Thrawn lifted the fur lined carrier with his twin sons as she blasted the nefarious creature with a thick of stream of flame.  

Ezra nodded and said “OK. That works too.”

“It works better” corrected Saianna as she caught up with her family.  She looked back at Thrawn holding the baby pack to his chest. The babies faced him, protected from any wayward lick of flame by the skins of the snowbeast. They began to cry, sensing the danger.

She stroked the babies  heads calming them and said to Thrawn “The black goo will, ehm, burr..eh, burn away. It will make a free path.”

“Why did you bring them?” he asked, angry.

Ezra sensed anger boiling beneath the surface of the Chiss’s calm features. He interrupted “The path is free! The Mngall Mngall is gone.”

Eli’s voice came from the dark hall “Ezra! Ezra?! Admiral!?”

“HERE, COMMANDER. WE ARE SECURE!” called back Thrawn.

“Mr Eli!” gasped Saianna. “Did everyone come to get me?”

Samakro came into the light “Well, ma’am, the situation looking down from above was quite dire. We needed to ensure a broad skillset to extract you and the little ones safely.”

“Oh” said Saianna lamely. “Ok.” How embarrassing. She slid the barrel of the flame thrower back into it’s holster and looked back at Thrawn with her large deep doe eyes. “I am sorry to embarrass you, Thrawn.”

The group laughed. Samakro said “You’ve done quite an amazing job, Saianna. I have to say I’m rather impressed.”

“Yes, well” said Thrawn drawing the attention back to his leadership and away from Samakro’s compliments. “We have not fully extracted them yet. Let us return the way we came. With Master Bridger’s abilities and Saianna’s fire.
