Hey so I have some questions that I don't know where to post. I paint little robots, and sometimes those little robots are made by independent modelers. I know that certain IPS don't like it when you sell proxies for their stuff, and I would never want to point the wrong set of eyes at an independent artist's work. I've seen some interactions that have confused me, where it looks like the modeler did not want to be publicly credited and by doing so now has their work exposed to the wrong set of eyes. So here's some questions that I would like answered so that I can give people the correct credit without them being told to take their work down.
1.) when I paint a 3D model that I either bought or got for free from somewhere online or in person, should I always include their handle/link to the place I got it from?
2.) should I ask the artist every time I want to post their work I've painted? (Not the same artist every time, but every time I post a new artist's work should I ask that artist the first time?)
3.) are there tags that I should avoid when uploading photos of a 3D modelers work that I've painted?
I'm not exactly worried about doing legal trouble, I just want to do right by the artists that are making the things I'm painting.
