My first drabble on this blog!

PAIRING: Noctis Lucis Caelum/Reader.

SETTING: Insomnia; pre-game.

RATING: sfw.

You don’t remember doing it that easily, but with Noctis there will always be surprises.

You sit by his window, peering through the frame and glass to catch a glimpse of the sleepy young man currently trotting about in his room trying to find something. His already mussed hair is tousled by frantic fingers that dig into the bag in his lap a second time, still failing to find whatever it is he’s looking for.

You have an idea, though. And you know exactly where it is.

Pushing away from the window, you float down toward lower ground, barely dodging the dark-dressed bulk of a man that is usually seen patrolling the perimeter at this time of night. Wings flapping as silently as you can manage them, you make your way to the back of the apartment, where a mound of earth lay hidden underneath a rosemary bush that was planted there earlier that evening. You inhale a long, deep breath and start digging into the mound, pushing away dirt and soil and finally revealing a small hole containing the red notebook that you often see in his hands once every few weeks. You grasp it, brush away bits of dirt still sticking on the cover, then fly back to the window with the book in hand.

You hadn’t meant to steal it the moment you see it on his dinner table, but you suppose you can’t quell the strange feeling rising in your chest at the sight; whoever it is that sent that notebook have been getting way too much attention from the boy, and you don’t like it.

Which is ridiculous considering he never know of your existence, anyway.

You hear more than see his small tantrum when he flings the bag across the room, pacing the floor with the kind of urgency that smells panic. His hair is even more disheveled now than when he first walk through the front door, which to you looks more attractive on him, but you know he’ll never know. So you push the window open—just a tad, not too wide—and slide the notebook through the gap, quickly flitting away as soon as it hit the floor.

You don’t go too far, only hiding just above the window-frame when it’s thrown open, and a mop of black hair peers out of it. You can’t see his eyes from where you are, but you know how sharp they are despite being shut nearly half the day or when they are at a place where you can’t see them. He whips his head from side to side, trying to find the source of the one that has returned the book to him, no doubt, before he gives up and the window is closed yet again, unknowingly leaving you to the cold night air.

You hover from your hideout, then shift toward the windowpane and flick a finger on the glass surface, quickly flitting away as the loud ‘ktock!’ resounds in the air and very obviously alerted him, who throws the window open again, trying to find the culprit.

You make sure he can hear you laugh as you fly away from it, making your way around the building to where you usually sleep.
