This is set during Jude's exile, so right after TWK)
"I'm fucked up, I'm black and blue."
Jude grunts at the song. Vivienne had dragged her out to the club, shoved a drink in her hand then disappeared into the crowd of sweaty body. 'You need to get out of the apartment. What's a better way to get over someone then getting under another?' she had murmured into her ear.
She's pissed. Cardan exiled her right after he married her. She's a queen, it's been months and nothing, no words from Cardan, no appearances from the court of shadows, not even her own twin sister.
"I'm built for it, all the abuse."
The drink Vivi had shoved in her hand was an odd shade of yellow and sugar around the rim. 'Its a lemon drop Jude, it won't kill you.' she had spoken, a sigh of annoyance leaving her lips. Jude cleared her throat before downing the drink, making a face after. It was good but the lemon was overpowering for a first drink. She licked her lips, now somewhat grateful for Heather's run down on drinks.
Waving over the bartender she forced a smile. "A blow job please." He nodded, eyes never straying to far from her as he slid the shot towards her, amused as she threw it back and then she bit her lip, thinking over the other shots and drinks Heather told her. "A pornstar shot, oh and some uh...fries? Please?" She inwardly cringed, not used to saying please. He chuckled softly and nodded. "Definitely eat if you don't want to get black out drunk." Jude shook her head. "I'd like that honestly." Brown eyes flick up to look at him. Should she sleep with the bartender? She licked her lips. He looked too much like Cardan. The thought shot a jolt of heartbreak in her chest, a familiar feeling of unadulterated rage following.
"I got secrets, that nobody, nobody, nobody knows."
"Y'know..." She glances down at his name badge. "...Kayden." Fuck even his named was similar. "Give me 6 shots of whiskey." He rose a brow, eyes traveling down to her ring and she shakes her head at his on coming question. Would it be considered cheating if I sleep with someone?' she thinks as he gets the shots ready. 'I bet his bed is never cold...' the fury builds up and she throws the shots back easily, coughing slightly. "Two shots of that gold shit." She points at the Gold Schläger, nothing was measuring up to the wine in Elfhame and she was angry. He hesitates, she had down too many drinks too fast.
"I believe she will be fine for now."
"I'm good on, that pussy shit."
Heavy hands land on her shoulders and her head spins. Even as drunk as she is currently, she knows that voice, it's haunted her for months, in her dreams, random whispers she swears she hears. Her hand goes to her thigh, automatically sobered up a bit as she tenses, gripping the dagger as she spins around, head foggy and she regrets is quickly.
It's exactly who she thought. Cardan is behind her, staring down the bartender. He twitched before going to help another person. "Why the fuck are you here Cardan? Leave. Now." His lips quirk into a wicked smirk and Jude can't help but feel a bit calmer at the familiar smirk but then it feels her anger again.
"I don't want, what I can get."
She grabs him by the collar, dragging him towards a hall way and pinning him against the wall, knife at his throat. "Jude, my sweet villain, my darling God." She presses the knife harder against his throat. "Tell me why I shouldn't slit your throat right here, right now."
He waves off her question. "That's not important, why have you not replied to any of my letters?" The pressure lightens for a moment. "What letters?" He frowns, the only emotion she's seen other then a smirk from him. "Asking you to come back..." He dared not to move. "Ending your exile...telling you that you're safe to return. And, my queen. You could have pardoned yourself." His lips twitch up. "Don't you remember? 'by the crown'? You are a queen Jude, you could've ended it right there."
"I want someone, with secrets."
Her eyes widen a bit. Cardan bested her at her own game, her own wit. "....what...?"
"That nobody, nobody, nobody knows."
"I did it to keep you safe...Orlaugh was not happy. Jude...did you...did you really kill Balekin?" She hesitated but stood straight. "I did. But only after he poisoned you." She took a step back from him, the tip of the dagger still pressed against the underside of his jaw, forcing his chin up. "Then you exiled me, before you even heard why." The urge to draw blood only increasing the more he stayed quiet. "Say something!" She snapped clenching her hands into fists.
"Come back with me." Laughter leaves her lips, unbelievable and almost maniac. "Go back with you?" Her hand didn't move from it's position. "Jude...Elfhame isn't-" she shakes her head, just in time for Bomb to show up. "Jude!" There's a flash of surprise. "k-King Cardan, the land is still dying."
Emotion swims in Cardan eyes. "The land needs it's queen Jude. Elfhame is dying, im-" he forcefully cuts himself off. "You?" She scoffs. "Are you saying it's my fault? Are you saying you're heartbroken so the land is feeling that." At Cardan's silence Jude can't help the hysterical laughter that leaves her once again. "Bullshit Cardan. You exiled me." He bites his lip. "Jude, my sweet monster, you know I cannot lie. As much as I'd like to sometimes. I did it for you..."
Her hand shakes, the dagger wavering and she bites her lip. "Jude. Come hate me at a nearer distance, break my heart if you must, just come home..." He reaches up, lowering her hand. "Jude-"
"You started a war for me..." He stops when she starts. "Fine...I'll come back."
You were quiet for a moment before you looked up from your phone. "Sannie...would you mind telling me why Felix just rejected me?" He could hear the sniffles coming from you as he looked up. "Because he's an idiot." He watched as your eyes watered, guilt swallowing him. "San...i really liked him..." He looked away. "Youve only known him for two years...I've known you for five...have you never looked at me like that?" He moved his gaze down. "I just..." He watched as you looked down at your phone. "Is that why he told me to ask you? He told me he couldn't because someone else was in love with me."
San bit his bottom lip, nails digging into his thighs. "Uhm..." You shook your head. "Just be honest." You whispered as you watched him. "You spend any free time you have with me. It wasn't hard to come to a conclusion..." You wiped your eyes as you sighed. "I was trying to get over you, that's why I have been trying to see other people." You leaned back on the couch, head on the top. "Imagine how Felix feels." You sat up straight.
"This could all have been avoided if you had just been honest. Not cornered the boy and tell him that he couldn't date me because you had feelings for me." He watched as you stood up. "Why did you set me up on a date if you loved me?" He chewed on his lip, looking up at you. "Same as you, i thought feelings were one sided, i thought if i saw you with someone else and happy, I'd be ok with it. Instead...it just made me jealous. So unbelievably jealous that i couldn't help it."
You listed to him quietly, tracking his movements as he paced. "I don't know what to say San..." You looked down, sighing. "I don't know where to go, what to do. I do like you, I've seen you in that light for years. But Woo told me that you...that you loved someone so i tried to move on."
"It was you!! It was you! Wooyoung just sucks at dropping hints. We are both just...oblivious i guess." You nodded. "Do you...want to go on a test date?" Your eyes went wide, snapping up to meet San's gaze. "Not...not right now, i thought i really liked Felix. So i have to come to terms with everything."
@sunmoonjune I hope it's ok I wrote this, your dew drops at dawn inspired this a bit...let me know if you want me to take it down
[ 1:39am ]
Wooyoung huffs as he kicks at the invisible ward, foot rebounding back. He glares at you before glaring back at the ring of salt. Black wings bristle in response as he growls. "Let me in baby." You hums, sitting down in the middle of the circle, yawning. "No. You keep teasing me, all of you." Wooyoung presses against the barrier, testing the strength. "Baby if I break this...you're so fucked." He hisses, fangs glistening as you take a drink, smiling at the others as they come in. San running face first into the ward, a pout on his lips. "What's this?" He pushes against the barrier before his eyes lock on you
You're only wearing a hoodie and sweat pants. But he recognized the hoodie, it's Wooyoungs, that explains why the younger is so worked up. San hums softly. "Have I been mean to you?" You cross your arms. "Yes you have, you were teasing me with everyone else." San looks at the circle of salt, trying so see if there was even a sliver of no salt.
You put it on thick, the circle is about 2 inches wide. "Joongie hyung will be able to get in this." He comes and you huff. "He can try." Hongjoong was the strongest of them. When he walked up wearing a haughty smirk you matched it, watching as he pressed against it as well, eyebrows furrowed when it slightly warped against his pressure. "Come on sweetheart."
He growled, ignoring once San and Wooyoung started the angry pacing and Seonghwa started prowling around the edge of the circle. "C'mon pretty baby. Open up." You shook your head, grinning at him as you ate popcorn, amusement dancing in your eyes. "I wasn't mean to you was I?" You hummed, pretending to think about it. "Not really, it was only Yun who was trying to help me. You only laughed at everything." You feigned a pout.
Wooyoung stopped in his spot as he grinned, toeing a weak spot. "Oh baby." He purred quietly. "I could break this area if I tried hard enough. Cmere." You stood up, walking towards him only to sprinkle more salt on the area, a shit eating grin on your lips. "Thanks for telling me Woo." You looked up at him, blowing him a kiss before walking over to were Yunho stood at the circle. "Do you want in Yun? You weren't being mean." He nodded and you glanced around before moving some salt, yanking him on before fixing the circle, just in time as Seonghwa tried to slip in.
"Hi Yun!" He smiled, almost shyly as he hugged you tightly. "See what happens when you aren't mean?" You turned towards the others, red eyes glaring at him. He bit back a smirk as he hugged you from behind, eyes glancing at he other demons.
He froze, hand under the sweatshirt only to hit something metal. "What's this?" He murmured, lifting the hoodie up more, Seonghwa 's belly chain gracing your waist. Yunho's warm hand sliding up your skin sent shivers down your spine, you gasped as it laid right under your neck. "I wanted to try Hwa's chain." Seonghwa growled, pushing on the barrier hard. "It looks so pretty on you baby." He praised and you shivered softly, only to hear Yunho gasp, his hand barely skimming the lace.
"Sweetheart." He slid his hand across your chest, his other hand moving the hoodie so he could see more before he pulled the sweats out to see if the panties matched. "You wore Sanie's favorite set?" You nodded as San growled, pushing against it hard with Seonghwa. "Let me take it off you baby." San hisses.
Yunho's grin turned sinister as he pushed the sweat pants down the best he could. "Our Yeosangie's favorite addition." He snapped the thigh high and the demon dug sharp nails into the ward.
You giggled and Yunho's gaze fell on Hongjoong, his hand coming up around around your neck, moving the hoodie enough to flick at the bell. "Look at this. Our baby is wearing her collar. Isn't that right kitten?" You felt your cheeks start to burn, Hongjoongs nails digging into the ward as well, grinning at the cracking sounds. "Oh pretty one. I'm going to destroy you once I get inside this. I'll hunt you down if you try and run." You shivered against Yunho. Mingi got closer. *Maybe if we all push against it..." You stopped, hesitation showing on your face. You didn't know if it would hold if they did that.
Yunho's arms locked around your waist, preventing you from moving as the others got into position. "Wait wait, no wait -" you watched in panic as they all tried to push away the salt, the seasoning moving a bit. "Oh fuck." You whispered as Yunho pushed his hand down your panties. "Are you ready to be eaten up my love." He whispered, sharp teeth against your neck as he kicked some salt out of the way, grinning widely as the others managed to slip inside. "Good luck baby."
Notes: horror. It's based off a no sleep post obvs. There isn't really an tw except suspense?? Mentions of death/dead bodies, DONT FUCK WITH SUPERSTITIONS EVEN IF THEYRE JUST SUPERSTITIONS!!
Sum: What's the thing that walks around in the pitch blackness at 3am? Even worse is it whistles, why is the neighborhood full of miracles but also full of secrets and devastating news when rules were broken. And why do they have a welcome committee that warns of consequences?
There's something about the little neighborhood you just moved into with your best friend. Everyone was very nice and you even had a welcoming committee come the next day and introduce you to everyone. As well as something that confused you.
The manilla folder was unique and it piqued your interest slightly. But so did the committee. 8 very pretty men that sat on your dining table as one put the folder on the table "Welcome to the neighborhood! I'm Hongjoong, and this is Seonghwa. We live up the street. Please introduce yourselves." He motioned at the other men and you learned their names were Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho.
You learned Jongho was the youngest but the air changed before you could do anything other than introduce yourself. "Sorry to cut you off. But it's getting dark and we need to get to what's inside the folder." Seonghwa gave a pained smile.
"So this neighborhood, we have little miracles. It might be someone getting a promotion or someone finding official fossils." Yunho continued, a slight smile on his face. "But there's something you need to be aware of." You glanced at your best friend, frowns forming on your lips.
"Never look out the window when you hear whistling. It happens every night. I cannot stress enough." Yeosang looked stressed. "Do. Not. Look. Out. Side." He sounded like he was begging. “Ignore the whistling. Please. Enjoy the little miracles but PLEASE don't look outside. Do not try to see what's whistling." San continued and his hands twitched as if he wanted to grip your hands.
San takes the folder and brings out the papers. Newspaper clippings, photographs, recordings were inside and you bit your lip, dread settling in your body. "What is this?" You murmured, taking the papers once he handed them over. "Evidence." Mingi murmured.
"This is what happens when you look outside." The pictures were horrifying. Before and after people lost the battle of temptation and looked outside the window. The life from their eyes was drained, empty looks and deep bags. Despair hit their family. It was someone injured severely or someone getting into a bad accident, random deaths and public accidents.
"Lock your doors at night, lock your windows. Don't answer the door at night if there's knocking. Cover the windows and lock them." Wooyoung continued, biting his lip. You were a strong believer in the paranormal and unnatural things that happen. Your friend however did not look like she was taking this seriously, “ please, this seems real.” Your friend looks at the papers and shrugs. “‘Mkay? What do you want me to do?” You huff before turning to look at the boys, specifically Seonghwa.
“Uhm what time does this usually start?” He sat up straight, thankful you looked like you were taking it seriously. “It usually lasts for an hour, 3am. But if you look, it can go til sunrise.” He continues. “If you look, try to ignore the banging, on the doors and windows, the light tapping. Dont listen or say anything. It will mimic your voice if you speak.” Seonghwa bites his lip as he glances between you and your friend. “This is all true?” He nodded and you puffed your cheeks.
“Its a beautiful tune really. Its just like a siren song. Entices you to look out your window or open up all your windows.” Wooyoung spoke, humming. “No one knows what it looks like though. People who have seen it don't live in the neighbourhood anymore and moved out once they came if they had the energy.” He continues. “They wouldn't talk or tell anyone anything about what it looked like, and said they couldn't. The only real emotion that showed on their face was pure terror. The only emotion that could be shown was fear. No happiness or sadness, just empty shells unless they were asked what it looks like or if the whistler was mentioned. Then it was only then would an expression be shown.” You nod, a bit sad as he talks but your friend half scoffs.
“Okay okay.” You snap your head to look at her. “Goodnight and welcome to the neighbourhood.” You watched them get up before following them to the door to escort them out. “Thanks for telling me. Ill keep an eye on her.” You lower your voice when Seonghwa turns around.
He's happy you're taking it seriously. All of the boys have perked up a bit. You take the time to remember what everyone looks like.
San has medium length blue hair and dimples, he looks similar to a vibrant summer. you know, that summer that even after years pass, you can't forget it. it's a juxtaposition, he looks like the epitome of 'forever young’. You're almost confused. His jawline and cheekbones are prominent but the childish air he gives makes him seem younger.
Seonghwa has what looks like a pained smile. He reminds you of toothless, hes very pretty. Soft pink hair and bright eyes that almost look like they have stars in them. You have to admit the pink looks incredible on him, he reminds you of the cotton candy you got at the carnival when you were younger. So far, he’s been just as sweet as the sweet treat itself.
Hongjoong has orange hair and you have to admit, not many can pull off orange hair but he did. He looks like a ray of sunshine, almost like the epitome of comfort. He seemed like the type to have a plan, but still likes to be free enough to abandon it at any time if he sees fit, and you knew you could trust him every step of the way with the safety he effortlessly provided should you need it.
Yunho is tall and his hair looks freshly dyed, it still has that shine that you get the day or 2 after you dye your hair. he looks like the human embodiment of what a hug would feel like after you've been touch starved for so long; just someone holding you close with no other reason than just wanting to feel you in their arms.
Mingi looks similar to what you assume a fairy would look like, or even a flower. He looks like he's not human at all. He looks like he might give soft morning kisses to his wife or girlfriend. His voice matched his face. Deep and smooth but once he smiled it changed his whole image.
Yeosang looks as if he could melt away all your fears and worries just by telling you it will all be alright. He reminds you of that one feeling that you could never truly pinpoint but you'd never complain about it. It was like that one long lost love that you could never have but you'd be happy just by remembering that fleeting moment. But be the same boy that would turn around and call you out if you did something dumb, laugh at you infront of you.
Wooyoung looks like a bit of a menace you have to admit that and by the way he's fooling around with San in the back and teasing Mingi he must be. He looks like someone who doesn't plan his routine because he wants fate to lead him through it, he looks like he wants to discover things he never imagined would have existed. He reminds you of the childish happiness you had when you went camping or hiking. The childish imagination that everyone had but lost as they grew up, but he looks like he never lost it, and it's admirable.
Jongho radiates this feeling of sincerity and trust. He felt safe and comfortable, supportive of your choices. He feels like the pleasant strain you feel in your cheeks from smiling too wide or for too long. His smile and eyes look like they'd be able to bring you comfort in a matter of seconds.
You shake your head, coming back to reality and meeting Seonghwa’s eyes and his faint smile. “Thank you for listening, I know it sounds insane.” You shake your head. If you had the mind of a teenager you would probably believe anything these men say, even if they said the grass was blue and the sky was green. But you don't. The genuine fear in their eyes told you more than enough. You rub your face easily as they turn around and walk back to their house. San and Wooyoung slip into the house on your left while Yunho and Yeosang go into the house on the opposite side. The others disappear into the dark and you close the door behind you, coming face to face with Ella’s smirk.
“Tell me you dont believe that bullshit.” You frown at her words. “They're obviously trying to scare us away so we move.” You rolled your eyes at her words. “They looked genuinely scared, Ella. Why would they lie?” She huffs. “Whatever.” You never realised how much of a bitch your best friend could be. You checked the clock and hummed. It was only nine pm, you had enough time to drive to the hardware store to get locking shutters. You knew Ella would try to look. To completely ignore the warnings and look for the whistling.
You make an excuse which Ella waves you off and you leave, frowning. Poking your head in, you're surprised the store hasn't closed yet but you don't take your time, asking for help from the closest worker to find what you need. “I live in Horizon. So I need to get locking shutters if that works.” The look in the worker's eyes tells you she knows about the little town you live in. Looking down at the girl's badge, her name says Siyeon. She's very pretty and your cheeks almost heat up with her full attention on you. Siyeon smiles and nods. “I know exactly what you need. Follow me?” You nod, following her easily.
You have a fleeting thought that you would follow her anywhere then you realise how insane you sound. Maybe you'll find a reason to come visit her more often, get to know her and have a new friend since your current one seems like a bitch. You turn into an aisle and she turns and motions to a locking shutter and you nod. “Thank you miss Siyeon.” She shakes her head easily. “No problem!” She watches you take a few off the hook before tilting her head, making easy conversation.
“You live in Horizon? How is it? A lot of people come in here for those types of shutters.” You hum softly, walking towards the check out with her. “Well i just moved in so i'm not sure yet, the people are nice, some a little odd, but nice. Some are kinda cute.” “You mumble and she chuckles. “Every place has some people like that, no matter where you go.” You nod, agreeing. “I'm hoping my friend doesnt get us kicked out.” You mumble, sighing as you place your stuff for her to ring up. “I wish you the best of luck!” You smile and pay once she offers the total to you. “I’ll see you next time, Miss Siyeon.” You grin at her nod and leave, arriving back home around eleven.
There's only 4 hours til the whistling starts and you hurry to put on the shutters and lock them, hiding the key from your best friend. “Ella please take this seriously.” You mumble when you see her crossing her arms and putting her weight on one leg. “How can I take this seriously? It sounds like a bunch of bullshit Y/n. Why are you taking this so seriously?” She huffs. “Is it because you think they're cute?” You huff. “You didn't pay attention to anything did you? Their expressions? The evidence? There were newspaper clippings and pictures. Why dont you believe this?” She shrugs. “I just don't. It's that simple.” You want to strangle her but a yawn interrupts your thoughts. “Well i'm going to bed. This is enough bullshit for me.” She speaks as she walks down the hallway towards her bedroom and you rub your face in exhaustion.
You sit on your couch and stare at the fireplace, spacing for a moment till you hear the whistling and your blood turns cold, fear shooting through your body. The melody is happy and doesnt stop. You can hear your heartbeat. While the melody was happy you felt scared, because you could feel the curiosity building inside of you. It indeed did start at three seventeen am on the dot and lasted for an hour. As the whistling sounds further away it gets louder and louder til it's right outside your house, sounding like it's right at your window and you hold your breath. There's a small part of you that's somewhat interested in what the thing looks like but you quickly shake the thought away. You can't do that, you just told the boys you wouldnt look. You plan on keeping your words.
As the whistling moves down the street and quieter til it's silent, you realise you were clenching your fists and quickly release them. The melody stays locked in your mind, replaying it constantly until your body relaxes a bit, too tired to really move from your spot. It is like a siren song, tempting you to look out and see what's making the pretty sound. Only when you look to see something possibly hideous or only seeing the darkness outside. It wants you to look outside, it's calling you just like those stories of sirens you used to read. It tickles the back of your mind with the urge to look out, to find the source of the whistling. But you don't, and you won't.
Your hands are still trembling and you don't sleep that night, and you only raise and unlock the shutters when you notice it's almost noon. You jump and almost scream when you hear the doorbell go off and you keep quiet. You had just seen San walk up to the door, why were you so afraid? You walk towards the door with wobbling steps. “Hello?” You call out and San hums. “It’s just me.” You open the door and let out a sigh of relief as you recognize the almost pity in his eyes. “You heard it?” His voice lowers into a whisper and he glances around before stepping inside then you let him in.
“Usually we don't talk about it. But you seem frightened, and tired.” You look at your shaking hands and force out a chuckle. “I didn't sleep last night.” He nods. “I get it, i didn't either my first night here.” You relax slightly in his presence and he sits down on your couch. “It's a pretty tune.” He starts and you nod. “But there's something haunting about it.” You whisper. “I thought about looking for a moment, but then I remembered the proof you guys gave us.”
You saw San tense for a moment before relaxing. “Please dont look.” You nod, rubbing your eyes and you hear a sound of sympathy. “I know it's scary, but you do need to sleep.” You shake your head. Your English professor would understand, right? If you fell asleep. You sigh, you didn't have class for a few days. “How many days did you not sleep for.” You ask, eyes meeting San’s and he smiles faintly. “A few days, but Wooyoung forced me to sleep.” He looks down at his hands and sighs. “You think with how Wooyoung acts he would have looked by now huh?” You keep watching him but don't say anything, you feel like you'd interrupt him. “But he might be the most scared of it.” He whispers and you look down at your own hands, clasping them to your chest.
“Just..appreciate the little miracles. Don't look at it and appreciate the little miracles.” You nod, thinking back on his words. Of how Wooyoung acted and how he might be the most scared of it. “Wooyoung's tough isn't he?” You whisper, looking up at San as he leans back. “Yeah, hes kinda dumb but hes really smart, knows what hes doing and how to make everyone smile and laugh.” He smiles softly, almost fondly, and its quiet for a moment before he speaks again. “Did you know him and Yeosang grew up together?” He grins, the dimples in his cheeks appearing and your fingers itch to poke them. “Really?” He nods and you look back towards the bedroom Ella went into.
“I don't know, actually I do know. She doesn't believe it at all, I'm hiding the keys because I know she would look.” You look at San, thinly veiled fear in your eyes. “She's my best friend.” He nods, looking up at the ceiling for a moment as his smile fades. “I know.” San sighs deeply as he pinches the bridge of his nose. “I'm worried too, but I need you to promise me.” He turns to fully face you, taking your hands in his and you cringe when you notice your palms are sweaty from fear and the way you were clenching them all night.
“Promise us, promise me that you won't look, even if she does somehow.” You nod, eyes locked with his as he watches you for a moment. “I promise I won't.” While you love Ella, you will not look, especially with the videos and pictures, the amount of proof they had all came with. You know she probably didn't wake up to the whistling due to how deep she sleeps, and since there was no odd knocking or tapping or sounds other than the whistling. When you recall the hour you remember that you didn't hear any footsteps. Just whistling.
“San…do you ever notice footsteps or other sounds? Or just the whistling? Does it ever randomly stop?” San goes quiet at the last question. “There's nothing but the whistling during the hour, we dont hear anything else.” He bites his lip, avoiding your gaze and you squeeze his hands. “San?” He bit back a whimper as he thought about the past. “I can't tell you. I want to tell you so bad Y/n. But i can't, or he will come.” He whispers, eyes landing on yours. “...San does everyone know about Horizon? When i went to the hardware store the girl there knew exactly what I needed as soon as I told her i just moved here.” San purses his lips. “Not everyone, but certain people know i guess.”
You nod before your attention goes to the hallway when your friend comes out. “Good afternoon Ella, how did you sleep?” She stretched and smiled. “Like a baby, I didn't hear anything either.” You nod and glance at San carefully. “I'm going to hang out with San and Wooyoung for a bit, will you be ok?” She nods, waving her hand tiredly. “Yeah I'm probably going to invite a few people over, they want to throw us a housewarming party.” You bite your lip and nod, getting up and tugging San with you. “Bye Ella, i'll see you later.” You tug San out quickly and towards the way you saw him disappear yesterday.
“Y/n!” It sounds like it's almost yelled into your ear and you half jump and bump into San and he stumbles a bit into the grass before lightly bumping you back with a grin. Wooyoung is grinning at the sight of you and San walking towards him as he stands on his porch. You don't know how his voice echoed so well to sound so close but you glare at San when he bumps you. His grin matched Wooyoungs once you stepped up to him. “Hi Wooyoung.” You smile at him and he ruffles your hair. “Come in, we can have a late lunch together.”
You smiled at him lightly. “Sure!” You shuffled in behind San and Wooyoung following behind both of you and shutting the door after. “What are you hungry for?” Wooyoung smiles widely as he looks at you but it falters when he notices your state. “What's wrong?” Your bottom lip trembled and you looked away quickly, taking a deep breath and closing your eyes. “They haven't slept yet Woo…” San trailed off and he sits you down on their couch, eyes soft. “You can take a nap, i'm going to talk to Woo for a moment then i'll be back.” You nod and adjust yourself on their couch, feeling warmth brush your skin as Wooyoung drapes a blanket over you.
You're drifting just as you see both of them disappear into the kitchen and the low sound of their voices but fall asleep before you can make anything out.
“I'm worried about them, Woo. It was just the first night.” He mumbles as he helps Wooyoung cook. “I know.” Wooyoung's voice sounds distant and San turns to look at him. “Everything will settle down.” Wooyoung's voice has concern laced inside and San knows everyone is concerned and worried, not much about you, but the so-called best friend you have. They have a feeling shes going to look, that you'll lose your best friend. They just hope she doesn't, that you dont lose her.
San bites his lip as he thinks hard. Your friend seems like she's the type that's been gaslighting you and bossing you around. Maybe you'll see the truth about your friend. He pokes his head back out to see you still sleeping, face relaxed and soft breaths leaving your lips and he shuffles out as Wooyoung continues cooking to crouch down in front of you, sighing. “You must be so stressed, having to watch your friend in case she tries to look.” His hand twitches, the urge to stroke your hair growing.
San takes a breath as he stands up and walks back to Wooyoung who is almost finished. “San, can you set the table and then wake up Y/n please?” San nods before getting to work. “Should we ask her to stay the night?” Wooyoung rolls his eyes, huffing. “San, we haven't even known her for a full 24 hours.” He turns to face the other male and takes his hand, stroking the back of his hand. “Relax San. If she hasn't looked on the first day I don't think she will ever.” San pursed his lips once he walked over to wake you up, gently tapping your shoulder until you woke up.
But. what startled you was the look in his eyes, its one that you don't recognize and there's hesitation before he turns to look at Wooyoung, who frowns and sighs before shrugging. “Possibly, but Y/n….” He bites his lip and watches as you fiddle with the bracelet on your wrist. “People have lasted months but they get too curious sometimes, even when you manage for so long, the curiosity gets so strong it's painful.” You chew on your bottom lip, thinking about your best friend. You hate to admit it, but even if she's your best friend you had a feeling she would try to look at some point, she would ruin her own life and not get any of the little miracles anymore.
But you weren't here to babysit her, you were here to start fresh, get away from the city, from your family. You wanted something new and Ella happened to come along. But never acted this way before, maybe she was just as stressed and scared as you? You sigh before you look back at San carefully, eyes scanning his face carefully.
Ella wasn't wrong, they are very pretty. But getting a boyfriend isn't something you wanted at the moment, especially just getting out of one. You wanted to breathe, to remember what it felt like being single after being trapped for several years. You puffed your cheeks nervously before biting down on one of them before looking at San. “I'm worried my friend is going to look at some point and that makes me nervous, I know she's been….not much of a delight to be around recently.” San pursed his lips. “We cant really do anything to help you except make sure you hide the key to the shutters well enough unless you think shes strong enough to break them?” You thought about it before shaking your head and curling your fingers into a fist. “I dont think she is, but shes really smart and that makes me nervous.”
You looked down, thinking if you should go back to the shop where Siyeon worked and (get her number) get more shades just in case. Your heart stopped. She said she was going to have some of your mutual friends over for a housewarming party. “Oh god…” You whispered, worry evident and you felt San tense in his stop and Wooyoung wandered over from the kitchen at the sudden and uneasy silence that had appeared. “Ella….she said shes having people over for a housewarming party. I don't know how long they will be staying.” Wooyoung bit his lip before exchanging looks with the boy in front of you. “What do I do guys?” You pleaded and they rubbed the back of their necks. “I don't know what to tell you Y/n. But all i can say would be, talk to her, maybe she will change her mind or tell you they aren't staying over.”
You have a feeling they will be staying the night and Ella will not change her mind. She was stubborn, hard headed and could be a bit of a bitch.
You nodded, figuring you would ask her to get definite answers before just going off on her. You shifted to stand up but were stopped by San’s hand on your forearm. “Just….if she looks i dont want you to look ok? WE dont want you to look…Dont try to be the caring friend when shes being everything but that.” You nodded softly and it was quiet for a moment before Wooyoung clapped. “Alright time to eat! Then we can go find something to do together!” He stood in front of you for a moment. “We can wait outside while you talk to her too.” He ruffled your hair and you huffed up at him, happy for the change in mood.
“We can probably bully Hongjoong and Seonghwa to join if youd like?” You chuckled softly before nodding. “If they would like to, itd be great. I would also like to stop by the library.” They nodded and you stood up with San, smiling as you walked towards the table Wooyoung had sat at. “Did you cook this?” He nodded, a smug grin on his face as he crossed his arms. “Go on, taste it and tell me how good it is.” He cocked a brow as he watched you put a piece on your fork. “Dont rub his ego its already big enough.” San mumbled as he moved to sit on the other side of Wooyoung and you felt the gust of wind from where you think Wooyoung tried to kick San. “Now now children, lets be civil. No fighting.”
You noticed you got along with both of them like they were old friends. Like you guys had met before. “Its very good Wooyoung, thank you.” He pouted. “Try again.” You furrowed your brows. “It’s delicious Woo, i promise.” His lips twitched, seemingly satisfied. “Thank you.” You chuckled as he started eating his own food and San followed soon after.
Once they walked you back home later that day you blanched. Ella was sitting on the couch with a few of her friends. “You invited them over…” She waved you off as she nodded. “Having a get together.” You bit your lip, looking at the youngest of them. Yujeong was only 16. She shouldnt have been friends with Ella. Ella was a bad influence and Yujeong would probably reap the consequences soon. “Just…just dont look outside tonight.” She rolled her eyes, turning on the TV. “If you ever want to have fun Y/n, let us know.” You sighed but texted San, the only one who had given you their number.
Moonlight:

Sanshine:

Moonlight:

Sanshine:

Moonlight:
Ok…
Sanshine:
Goodnight Y/n
You rubbed your face, tossing your phone on the bed, slipping into the bathroom to clean up for bed. You had a feeling this is going to be the day you lost your best friend.
You were right.
That was the night you heard it, right before you fell asleep. You heard the quiet rattle of the shades as they were moved up. The whistling had only started about 15 minutes ago and was progressively getting louder and closer. You were too late, getting tangled in your sheets as you tried to run out the door to stop them. Landing on your knee with a pained cry as you threw open the door, just missing the moment to stop as you heard the whistling abruptly stop.
Your blood ran cold, fear shooting through your body. You threw your hand over the closest person as you closed your eyes, hand blocking Yujeong’s eyes. You spun around, making sure the youngers face was hidden in your chest. Then it started.
The knocking.
It was everywhere.
It was no where
It was loud and obnoxious
It was quiet and non existent.
It was scary.
It was horrifying and that wouldnt change the fact that it was knocking on the door as Ella stared out of the window, breaking the rule you had set, the key to the shutters in her hand and in the window shutters rolled up. You couldnt open your mouth, couldnt do anything about it because you were stuck, stuck to the spot in terror. Stuck with the incoming knowledge that you were going to lose her, in some way or another.
You backed up, walking with a hand out behind you to close the shutter, to block her line of sight. It took a moment before the knocking became more insistent and a bit more aggressive. “Y/n-” She started but was cut off. “Hi, hello. Open the door, open the window.” It was Ella’s voice, but her mouth wasnt moving and her face was drained of colour, as well as a few of the girls who had come over. You bit your lip. “Why did you look?” You whispered and got no response, silence. One girl, you remembered her as one of Ella’s best friends Satbyeol, ran to the kitchen. The knocking stopped on the door, moving to the kitchen window in rhythmic taps followed by aggressive banging.
You didnt know what to do. It had just started, Ella had ruined her life because she didnt believe in anything you or the boys have said, and now youre going to lose her all because of her stupid decision she made with her friends. You covered your ears, arms wrapped around Yujeons neck to keep her in place, the sensory and feelings and noises working you up enough. Dropping to your knees with Yujeong in your arms, you leaned forward over her. “Please stop, please stop.” You whispered and Ella covered her ears also. “I wont tell anyone what you look like so please!! Stop!” You looked up at her, barely able to hear her over the feeling that was taking over your body. Mind fuzzy and your body feeling like a heavy log.
Once the sun had risen all sounds had stopped, it had calmed down to a small ‘tap tap tap’ almost twenty minutes before the sun had risen. You sat on the couch, looking at Ella who had no emotion as well as her other friend. They were both in the same state, lifeless eyes, blood drained face and no movement. You werent even sure she was breathing, and you wouldnt think she was still alive if it wasnt for the small amount of blinking whenever her eyes got too dry.
“I told you this was real.” You whisper, looking at her. She was still standing, arms now at her sides as she stared at the window. “Now look at you.” You mumble before she heads to her room, a monotone ‘im moving out’ leaving her lips. You sigh, knowing this was going to happen. Your eyes trail over to Yujeong and you frown. Shes the youngest and she still looks petrified. You look down at her and, theres still a bit of life in her eyes, maybe she only got a glimpse? “Yujeong, you need to go home, dont come back. Leave with Ella. Its not safe for you anymore. It never was.” You help her up and let her sit on the couch.
You focused back on Ella, eyes still filled with fear. “Ella you need to go home, be careful. Go back to Dia and Lia.” You stood up, walking back over to the girl, pulling her gently to the couch, glancing at the others. “You all need to go back. Go home guys.” You whispered, patting their cheeks a bit til they looked at you. “Go.”
A knock on the door made you jump, bile rising in your throat, the other girls freezing in their spot. “Y/n. It’s San. Can you open the door.” You tensed. You knew he was coming over. But with that thing being able to copy others voices you shivered, fear making your hands shake. The house was quiet. The knocking and whistling had stopped a few hours ago but you were still scared.
“How i do i know its you.”
“You came over yesterday and fell asleep on my couch and we ate with Wooyoung.” You got up, tiptoeing towards the door, glancing at your watch as it buzzed.
Sanshine:
Its me, you can open the door, its over.
You choked on a sob as you flung the door open, arms wrapping around the others neck as he held you closer. “Its over, lets go over to my place, let your friends leave.” You nodded, still keeping your arms around him as he waddled back over to his house with Wooyoung, stroking your back.
"You've done it once what's another time for the books." You snapped and it felt like a slap across the face to Minho, Jisung behind him with a look of pleading in his eyes. You saw the way Minho had flinched at the words.
"All of you have, how can I trust anything you guys are saying? How can I even forgive you guys? Hmm??" You rose a brow, jabbing your finger against the others chest aggressively. "Hm? Any reasons? Your excuses?" You clenched your fist, refusing to cry even as you felt the burning in your nose.
"The things you guys said to me." Don't look at Felix, Don't look at Jeongin you hissed at yourself. Those two would cause you to give up, to come back and fall right back into their arms. “I will never forgive you for those words. I can repeat them back to you, ill never forget them. Would you like me to repeat it?” You watched Minho bite his lip and Chan crossing his arms beside him. “Youre not any better Chris. You..i trusted you and what did you do? You left me there with the excuse of ‘i cant believe youre such a-’.” He cut you off, shaking his head. “Please stop.” You scoffed.
“The only people who tried to let me explain was Jeongin and Felix. Not even you...not even Hyunjin...” You trailed off. “Not the people i thought loved me..the ones i thought said communication was the key to success, communication was the solution to all relationships?” You murmured, shaking off the arms that wrapped around your waist. “Dont touch me.” The lemony scent told you it was Felix. “Please...” You whispered, knowing hed be able to pick it up. “I’m tired of being the only one you guys dont communicate with. I know i came into this stuff late but...i just want respect...and its nice to know your love is only on the surface.” You wiped your nose and turned, eyes on the ground as you stepped around Felix and walked towards the door.
“Dont leave...” You glanced back at Jisung who had spoken. “Please.” You chuckled. “Isnt it only fair? So you get to see what it feels like? Getting your heartbroken? Oh no no. i dont have any sharp words or names to call you guys.” You looked at all of them, biting your lip. “Yknow, i trusted you guys...” You could see the blood drain from their faces. “But you guys tossed me aside so fast. For what? something a fling you had years ago said about me? Ahaha, its nice to know you trust someone like that over me.”
Your hand itched, it wanted to smack something, break something. Do something but you couldnt think of anything. “Im tired of being th eonly one trying to make this work even though you guys invited me into this relationship and told me you loved me. I might forgive you in the future but i will NEVER forget? Understand? But right now...I want nothing to do with you guys. Im going to stay with my brother.” They looked down but Minho had not looked away the entire time.
“I let you guys explain, all i felt like i got was excuses. ‘she was our friend first’ and ‘she made sense at the time.’. What if the tables were turned? What if i said ‘Oh Wooyoung said he saw Chris kissing another girl because he wanted you out of the relationship.’ or if Seungkwan said ‘oh Minho? He talks about you behind your back, its horrible.’ or even, and this is my favorite one, what if my brother said ‘i overheard Changbin airing out everything you guys do in the bedroom and laughing about how bad you were.’ How would you feel?”
“I thought you guys were better then that...seems like you have no trust in me.”
You had settled in Wooyoung's lap, his hands unconsciously resting on your hips as yours cupped his cheeks. "Pretty." You don't register who's voice it is but you're guessing it was yours by the way Wooyoung's lips pull into a grin. "I know."
You roll your eyes teasingly before you softened, eyes roaming his face as you leaned closer, lips brushing the mole under his eye before dropping a kiss on his eyelids when he closed his eyes. "You couldn't have said 'thank you' y'know?" His eyes stayed closed as he held you tightly, you lips brushing down his cheek.
"Mmm, but where's the fun in that?" You giggled, noticing his voice getting quieter the closer you got to his lips. "Are you getting quiet because you want me to kiss you?" He hummed as a response and you giggled, breath fanning across his lips and he tilted his head back unconsciously.
"I love you." You cut off the whine he was about to emit by pressing your lips together, shifting as his arms tightened around your waist, thumbs stroking the small of your back. You widened your legs as his spread a bit, wanting to be more comfortable. That was always his excuse.
Your thumbs stroking the skin of his jaw as your hands moved to rest on his neck. Wooyoung's lips were always so soft and warm, not like your ex's that were chapped and cold. You tilted your head the slightest bit to deepen the kiss, enjoying the sigh that left your boyfriend's lips.
You became eager to hear more, shuffling closer as you let your fingers slide into dark locks and tugging lightly, smiling lightly at the deeper sigh that slipped from his mouth. "Be careful what you start love." He whispered as he bit your bottom lip before pulling away a small fraction.
"Because I'll be the one to finish it." His fingers trailed up your spine as he hummed, burying his face in your neck and you huffed him closer. "Ok Woo." He shifted once you started stroking his hair. "You start getting me worked up then try and get me to soften up?" He hummed teasingly and you flinched away, the vibration tickling you.
"One Day I'll get to leave marks on you." He chuckled and pulled back. "You can darling. Just not anywhere visible." You thought about it. If you left marks where they weren't visible, the only person that's be able to see them would be you, Wooyoung and the boys knowing how he walks around the dorm almost naked.
@yunhoflrtz for Qii because she gave the idea I'm just writing it for her
[ 3:10am ]
The breath almost leaves your chest as you feel a larger frame pressing you into the bed. He's warm and covers your entire body, head resting on your chest. "Yun?" You whisper and he hums, shifting so your legs spread the slightest bit so he settle more comfortably.
His body relaxed, all the stress and anxiety leaving his body as he feels your arms wrap around him. His weight pressing you into the bed more. Your nails brush against his scalp as you stroke his hair and you feel the sigh he lets out, his eyes fluttering shut. "Bad dream Yunho?"
"How do you always manage to make me feel better?" He mumbles, almost cutting you off but you can tell he's on the verge of falling asleep. He's becoming dead weight on you but you can't being yourself to care as you can feel tension leave him as your other hand strokes his upper back. "Sleep..." You whisper but his breathing evens out before you finish the word
Sitting at your desk you fiddle with your pencil, glaring at the wall. Idiot. You think as your eyes slide to your best friend, then to your crush. A senior named Choi San that you had been thinking about for a while.
You closed your eyes as you think carefully to yourself, remembering what your mother had said. 'some people are born with special ability that come in when they're 18.' You open your eyes and scan the class before you scream inside your head, searching for the mind readers who might have been trying to cheat.
You hold back a gasp as you see San flinch, almost hitting his head on the wall. No way was San a mind reader. 'CHOI SAN.' You test and he jumps again, head whipping around to see if anyone was messing with him, first accusing his best friend before his eyes lock with yours and you have to hold back a smirk as you quickly look away. You'll have to avoid him the best you can.
You can see his eyes narrow at you from your peripheral and you hum quietly, trying to play it off as he watched you.
When the bell run you knew you were screwed, San was standing infront of you before you could even stand up. "Come with me." He grabbed your wrist, just enough time for you to grab your things before you were whisked off by the dimpled boy.
He had dragged you to the library and between a shelf, your cheeks blazing. "I know it was you." You looked away, a bad habit when you were lying. "I don't know what you're talking about." He scoffs. "Don't lie princess." You gasped and he chuckled. "Of course it was you." He scanned your face before nodding. "You're Y/n right?" You nod. "Nice to finally meet you. Not don't go telling everyone, it's supposed to be a secret."
Little did you know he was going to be stuck to your side for a long time.
