Chocolate sprinkle & flake spreads
These popular chocolate sprinkle & flake spreads are produced by De Ruijter, a Dutch company which has existed for 150 years. The De Ruijter is brand is owned by H. J. Heinz BV. In the Netherlands these spreads are called ‘hagelslag’ which means ‘hailstorm’.
In 1985 the brand received the formal title ‘Purveyor to the Royal Dutch Household’ allowing the company to publish the royal crown in its logo.
After testing, its become clear that UK consumers also love the sprinkles’ and flakes’ universal chocolate taste. That’s why they are now being introduced into the UK. Retail sales already occur outside of the Netherlands, for example in Canada, US, Germany & Australia.
The chocolate spreads have a 100% grocery store density in the Netherlands (supermarkets, convenience stores & independent retailers). All the major wholesale organisations and food services (e.g. hotels, restaurants & business cafeterias) offer the De Ruijter products to their customers. On average, over 600 million sandwiches are topped with this delicious product each year.
